Louis E. Weiss

Louis E. Weiss, 85, Augusta, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2005.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at the Augusta First United Methodist Church, 2420 N. Ohio, followed by a reception to which friends and family are invited.
During his long and productive life, he was a successful owner and operator of a manufacturing company, rancher, developer, and real estate broker affiliated with J.P. Weigand. He also was an avid gardener, birdwatcher, and bread baker. He was a former President of Kansans for the Right to Work and a long time member of the Wichita Rotary Club. He was a devoted member of the Augusta Methodist Church, serving for many years on the church finance committee. The accomplishments that gave him the most joy and satisfaction were being a loving husband and the father of seven children. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Jean, whom he married on July 21, 1967; seven children, Jay (Sharon) of Monroe, La., Lee (Ruby) of Amarillo, Texas, Jon (Darla) of Cottonwood Falls, Steve of Wichita, Laurie (John) of San Antonio, Texas, Cheri (Dave) of Wichita; and Kurt of Lincoln, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson, all of whom brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his second son, Lee; his first wife, Marge; brother, William.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for contributions to the Augusta Methodist Church
