Roman Henry Schauf

Roman Henry Schauf, 99, Augusta, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2005.
Visitation from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 11, at St.
James Catholic Church in Augusta. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Mr. Schauf was born in Aleppo on May 2, 1906, the son of the late Peter and Walburga (Mauer) Schauf. On April 1,1937, he married Leona C. Girrens. He was a dairy farmer all of his life, milking cows into his nineties. He was a member of St. James Catholic Parish for 64 years and he enjoyed dancing. His favorite winter
past time was stoking the wood stove so that the room temperature matched his age.
He is survived by: six children, James “Jim” Schauf of Thornton, Colo., Marilyn Vaughn of Denver, Colo., John Schauf of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Janet “Jan” Placke and her husband, Don of Central City, Neb., Julie Critchfield and her husband, Craig of Augusta, and Jaye Schauf of Augusta; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years on June 20, 2005; brothers, Leo, Ollie, Albert, Walter, Lawrence; sisters, Helen Marx and Sophia Grelinger; and brother-in-law, Glendel Vaughn.
Memorial contributions may be made to Keepsake Care Home in care of Headley Funeral Chapel.

David Thomas

David H. Thomas, 65, Winfield, brother of Lloyd Thomas of Augusta, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005.
His service was held today, July 11, at the Highland Cemetery in Winfield.
In addition to the brother here, he leaves wife Ruth; son Harold; daughters Mary Sutton and Laurie Adams, both of Wichita; brother Don of El Dorado; five grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home of Winfield.
L.K. Beaumont

Larry Kent Beaumont, 53, Andale, brother of Linda Simon of Augusta, died Friday, July 8, 2005.
A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at the Wulf-Ast Mortuary Chapel in Colwich.
Mr. Beaumont’s funeral service will be at the mortuary at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 14. A graveside service is slated for 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Longton Cemetery.
In addition to his sister, Mr. Beaumont leaves a son, Josh of Haven; daughter Heather Pittman of Goodland, brother Steve of Towanda; one grandchild.
