Shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday, an injury accident occurred on the east side of Augusta. A semi-trailer truck operated by
Eddie D. Chamblin, Maiden, Mo., was westbound on U.S. 54 - 400 and a pickup truck operated by Herbert P. Madigan, Augusta was
eastbound on U.S. 54 before the accident. Madigan was attempting to turn onto old 54 highway when thetrucks
collided. Augusta Safety Department officers, Sheriff's officers the Kansas Highway patrol, and Butler County Emergency Medical Service
responded to the accident scene. Madigan was taken by ambulance to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita where he died of his injuries. Chamblin was
not injured, according to authorities.
