Mary Irene Wakefield

Mary Irene Wakefield, 89, Augusta, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005.
Her graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, at Leon Cemetery in Leon.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18„ at Dunsford Funeral Home v in Augusta.
Mary was born on Jan. 2, 1916 to Newt and Hattie (Jarred) McVay on a farm northwest of Alva, Okla.
She spent most of her childhood in Augusta, graduated from Augusta High School in 1934. After receiving a teaching certificate from El Dorado Junior College, she taught in one-oom schools until 1942.
On March 15, 1942, she married Oran Wakefield of Leon. He preceded her in death in 1973.
After World War II, the family moved to Leon. She returned to college in 1958
and received her bachelor of science degree in education. She then returned to teaching first at Prospect then in the El Dorado district.
After her retirement in 1980, she and her teacher friends set out to visit many of the places around the country that they had taught their students about over the years.
In 1983, she returned to Augusta, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Her survivors are: son, Earl (Martha) of El Dorado and Leonard (Morlene) of Augusta; daughter, Ruby (Sam) Hatter of Tulsa, Okla.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Oran, she was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and sisters.
Memorials may go to the Augusta Historical Theatre.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.

Douglas McNaught Sr.

Douglas McNaught, Sr 82, Wichita, retired owner of Augusta Business Machines, passed away on Monday, Sept. 19, 2005.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, at the Broadway Mortuary Chapel in Wichita.
His survivors include: sons, Douglas McNaught, Jr. of Mooresville, N.C., Dana McNaught of Iuka, Miss., and Mark McNaught of Wichita; daughters, Julie McLeon, Jane Jungers, Sara Bundrick, Mary Beth Slayden, all of Wichita, and Joyce McNaught of Sand Springs, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may go to Faith Hospice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Broadway Mortuary of Wichita.

Rev. Charles Kinkaid

Rev. Charles E. “Jack” Kinkaid, 80, Derby, retired pastor, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2005.
A memorial services scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, at the First Baptist Church in Douglass,
with a graveside service following at 1 p.m. in the Atlanta Cemetery.
His survivors are: wife, Rosie; sons, Michael of Rose Hill and Jeffrey of Towanda; daughters, Linda Ward of Elberta, Alaska, Jacqueline Schneider and Janice Floyd, both of Derby; brother, Joe of Anaheim, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
Watson Funeral Home of Wichita has charge of the arrangements.

Robert B. Kaufman

Robert B. Kaufman, 90, Wichita, retired mechanical engineer for Mobil Oil Refinery, formerly of Augusta, died on Friday, Sept. 16, 2005.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Asbury United Methodist Church.
His survivors include: wife, Pauline of Wichita; sons and wives, Robert J. and Carol Kaufman of Midland, Texas, Kenneth E. and Tara Kaufman of Rathdrum, Idaho, Michael
and Lela Kaufman of of Midland, Texas; step son, Bob and Liz Rich of Shell Knob, Mo.; sister, Faye Batson of Wichita; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by; wife, Betty J. Kaufman; brothers, George and Chester Kaufman.
Memorials to Asbury United Methodist Church or Hospice Care of Kansas.
Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita has charge of the arrangements.

Arthur E. Wyss Sr.

Arthur E. Wyss, Sr., 81, Wichita, passed away on Friday, Sept. 16, 2005.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Christ Lutheran Church in Augusta Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Viewing will be until 8 p.m. this evening at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.
His survivors are: children, Arthur E. Wyss, Jr., Edward Wyss, Martin Wyss’ and Diane Harrold, all of Wichita; step daughter, Betty Marleen Winzer of Augusta; sister, Pat Phillips of El Dorado; 13 grandchildren
Arrangements are under the direction of Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta.
