Fern Henderson
Dies In Wichita
Florence Fern Henderson, 64, Wichita, formerly of Augusta, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Private services will be held.
A memorial has been established with the Oncology Unit at St. Joseph Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 20, 1919 in Augusta to Ira and Pearl Miske Hiltabidel Sheppard.
She was a retired ward clerk at a county hospital.
Survivors include sons, Gene E. of Englewood, Colo., and Ronald of Wichita; daughters, Joy Schroeder of Derby, Judy Heatwole of Sedgwick and Linda Ward of Wichita; brothers, Dale Sheppart of Howard, Colo., and Robert Sheppard of Pueble, Colo.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A son, Douglas, preceded her in death.

Myrtle Thompson Dies In Parsons
Myrtle B. Thompson, 85, Parsons, a retired Augusta elementary school teacher, died Wednesday.
Her service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Burris-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons.
A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church in Parsons.
Survivors include a brother, Fred R. Thompson and a sister, Mabel Campbell, both of Parsons.

Ralph Cooley Dies At 89
Ralph Cooley, 89, 341 Columbia, died Friday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Amos Williams will officiate and burial will be in the Seltzer Cemetery in Wichita.
He was born April 23, 1894 in Andover to Hershal Isaac and Minnie Dora Freeman Cooley.
He married Estella Mae Han-shaw Sept. 6, 1915 in Wichita. She preceded him in death in 1970.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
He was also a member of the Blue Lodge, Consistory, Shrine and the Butler County Shrine Club.
Survivors include a grandson, Darrell L. Hawkins of Augusta, and nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Margaret Hawkins, preceded him in death.
Two brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death.

Tiny Burr Dies At 98
Tiny D. Burr, 98, Keene, Texas, mother of Francis Burr of rural Augusta, died Monday at a nursing home there.
Services are pending in Wichita.
Besides Francis Burr, she leaves two other sons, Harold of Keene and Edwin of Wichita.
Rites Pending For G.R. Allen
Rites are pending at the Dunsford Funeral Home for Gerald R. Allen, 68, Augusta.
He died yesterday at the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.

Sister Dies At AMCI
Hazel Marie Shaffer, 85, Benton, sister of Rachael Gruber of Augusta, died today at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Benton Methodist Church. Rev. Duane Harms will officiate and burial will be at the Benton Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Benton United Methodist Church.
She was born June 20, 1898 in Peoria, Ill., to James and Carrie Ann Harrison Wisecarver.
She married Albert Shaffer June 20, 1918. He preceded her in death Nov. 24, 1976.
Other survivors include sons, Delbert of Benton and Harold of Towanda; daughters, Norma Stephens of Benton and Evelyn Best of Sarasota, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
L. Sherwood Dies At 81
Laura M. Sherwood, 81, Wichita, mother of Sally Jackman of Leon, died Monday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Private services were held. A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
She was born Oct. 4, 1901 in Goltry, Okla., to William and Daisy Thomas Gunn.
She was a City of Wichita forensic laboratory
photographer until her retirement in 1963.
Other survivors include a sister, Goldye Bland of Enid, Okla.
