Edith L. Bonfiglio

Edith L. Bonfiglio, 83, Wichita, homemaker, mother of Michael D. Bonfiglio of Douglass, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary in Wichita.
Other survivors include: sons, Peter L. Bonfiglio and David L. Bonfiglio, both of Wichita, and John R. Bonfiglio of Virginia Beach, Va.; brothers, Harold Harp of Wichita and Cecil Harp of Midwest City, Okla.; sisters, Ethel Meier, Beaulah Eastman, and Marie Kern, all of Wichita, and Doris
McClure of Pretty Prairie; 11 grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John.
Memorial established with Life Care Center of Wichita, 622 N. Edgemoor, Wichita, 67208.
Arrangements are under the direction of DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary of Wichita.

Edith M. Newton

Edith M. Newton, 90, Parsons, mother and mother-in-law of Virginia and Bob Hizey of Augusta, died on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery.
Visitation with family will be from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons.
She was born on May 26, 1915 on a farm in the Center Bethel area, the daughter of John T. and Theressa “Trace” (Hall) Hunter.
She grew up in that area and graduated from Parsons High School.
On Feb. 24, 1935, she married William N. “Bill” Newton Sr. at the farm of her brother, Raymond Hunter. They farmed in the_
Center Bethel area until 1943, and then farmed north of Parsons until 1948.
They lived in Galesburg from 1948 to 1956 and then moved to Parsons. Mr. Newton preceded her in death on March 5, 1997, soon after they observed their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Newton worked many years as a sales clerk at the Montgomery Ward Store in Parsons and later for the J.C. Penney Store, from where she retired.
She was a member of the Center Bethel Church and the Center Bethel Study Club. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sewing.
Other survivors include: son, William N. “Bill” Newton Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Parsons; daughters, Carolyn Newmaster and husband, Mike of Ottawa, Margie Batson and husband, Roger of Bella Vista, Ark., and Jane Washburn and husband, Frank of Bentonville, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by grandson, Jeffrey Newmaster; brothers, Raymond Hunter, Floyd Hunter, and Bert Hunter.
Memorials suggested to the Center Bethel Church. They may be sent to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Box 942, Parsons, 67357.

Dorothy K. Yager

Dorothy K. Yager, 87, Augusta, homemaker and retired music teacher, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Dunsford Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
Visitation until 8 p.m. this evening at Dunsford Funeral Home.
Her survivors include: sons, Dale Yager and wife of Pittsburg and Mike Yager of Beverly Hills, Calif.; daughter, Michelle Ewertz and fiance, Nick Bennett of Salina; grandchildren, Alex Yager, Kati Yager, Laura Ewertz, James Colby Ewertz; many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements under the direction of Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.

Muriel Charles 'Junior’ Ewart

Muriel Charles Ewart Jr., 79, Augusta, died on Friday, Dec. 16, 2005.
Visitation from 6 to 8 o’clock this evening; funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec.
20, both at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.
Junior was born July 12, 1926 in Augusta, the son of Muriel Charles Ewart, Sr. and Armenia Moomey.
He was raised and educated in Augusta. Immediately following graduation, he entered the United States Navy in 1944
and served during World War II as a Signalman
First Class on a destroyer. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and then attended the University of Kansas, where he received his engineering degree.
Ewart was an engineer for the Kansas State Highway Department for 40 years.
In September 1950, he married Constance Rae Howard of Augusta. They had two boys; Charles Ray and Randal Howard. He also had two wonderful grandsons; Bryan and Tyson Ewart.
Connie preceded him in death on Oct. 23,1989.
He married Lucile Seeburn Ehret in 1990.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.
