Robert Eugene Barry

Robert Eugene Barry, 83, Douglass, passed away on May 8, 2006, in Augusta at the Lakepoint Nursing Facility.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on July 8, 2006, at Roselawn Cemetery in Salina.
He was born to Emma and John Barry on March 16,1923. Robert was baptized and confirmed at Messiah Lutheran Church in Lindsborg. He attended Lindsborg public schools and graduated from high school in 1941. He played on the high school football team and was a football enthusiast all of his life, with Notre Dame and the Kansas City Chiefs being his favorite teams.
After high school graduation, Robert followed in his father’s footsteps and went to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as an operator/telegrapher in 1941. On Dec. 6, 1941, he married Martina Herman and they had a daughter, Sharon Sue.
He joined the United States Navy in 1942 and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged in
1945 and resumed work with the Missouri Pacific Railroad.
A few years later Robert married Wanda Virginia Lusk (Ginger) and together they had four children, Penny, Linda, John and Marlene.
Robert was later promoted to station agent for the Missouri Pacific Railroad at Salina. He married Lucille McBride and they lived in Salina until her death in 1983.
After retiring from the railroad, he moved to Council Grove and married Hollis Dickerson (Wally). They were active members of the United Methodist Church. Wally passed away in 2002. Robert spent his remaining years in Douglass close to his family.
His survivors include: children, Sharon (Ken) Berry, Penny (Mike) Ribble-Nelson, John (Karen) Barry, Marlene (Shane) Mussat; brother, Charles (Mary) Barry; ten grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: wives, Ginger, Lucille, and Wally; sister, Ora Lee Barry; daughter, Linda Ruddick.
Memorials may be made to Lakepoint Nursing Facility in Augusta.
Arrangements are under the direction of Smith
Family Mortuary in Derby.

Doran R. “J.R.” Raine

Doran R. “J.R.” Raine, 68, Toronto, retired purchasing manager for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Co., father and father-in-law of Vicky and Barry Farley of Augusta, died on Monday, May 15, 2006.
Graveside service with Masonic Rites at 10 a.m. Friday, May 19, at Coyville Cemetery.
Visitation with family from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at Timmons Funeral Home in Fredonia.
Other survivors include: wife, Janet; sons, Michael and D. Robert, both of Wichita; brothers, Donald of Coyville and Gary of Haysville; step mother, Edith of Wichita; four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doran R. and
Gwendolyn L. (Killion) Raine, Sr., and foster brother, Boone Zane.
A memorial has been established with Coyville Christian Church.
Timmons Funeral Home in Fredonia has charge of the arrangements.

Audine Bates

Audine Bates, 94, Augusta, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2006.
Service arrangements were pending this morning with Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.

Thomas H. Webb

Thomas H. Webb, 66, Augusta, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2006.
Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Bloomington Cemetery, rural Leon.
His survivors include: daughter, Kirsten (George) of Branson, Mo.; foster daughter, Judy Smith of El Dorado; seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary.
Arrangements by Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.

Raymond Keiter

Raymond Keiter, 84, Wichita, retired from agriculture and raising, quarter-horses, died on Wednesday, May 17, 2006.
Funeral Mass was held this afternoon at St. Joe-Ost Catholic Church, Andale, followed by burial at the St. Joe Church Cemetery.
He served in the 5th Marine Division during World War II, and was a parishioner at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta.
His survivors include: sons, Randy, Larry, Brad, all of Wichita, Greg of Augusta, and David of Ruidoso, N.M.; daughter, Rebecca Keiter
Bell of Maize; two granddaughters; sister, Marcella Phillips; brother, Herman Keiter, both of Wichita.
Arrangements were handled by DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary in Wichita.
