Virginia Edith Carpenter

Virginia Edith Carpenter, 81, Augusta, died on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita following a series of illnesses over the past few months.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m, on Monday, June 5, at - the Augusta First Christian Church, with Rev. Doug Amend officiating. The committal will be at the Andover Cemetery.
Visitation with family present will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, at the Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home in Augusta.
Virginia was born on Jan. 5, 1925 at Stockton, the daughter of James and Vida (Turner) Hammond. She was raised at Stockton and graduated from Stockton High School.
She had been a resident of Augusta since the early 1950’s. She was retired coowner of Carpenter Paint and Glass, which she and her husband operated for many years. Virginia was also a member of the First
Christian Church in Augusta.
Her survivors include: sisters, Maxine Jackson of Augusta and Florence King of Kansas City, Mo.; brothers, Everett and Kenneth Hammond, both of Wichita, Harold Hammond of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Warren Hammond of Rio Grande City, Texas; a nephew, Ric Newell and his wife, Yevette of Ft. Worth, Texas, and their children, Joel and Stephanie; seven other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin in 2002.
The family has requested a memorial to the First Christian Church in lieu of flowers.
Arrangements are under the direction, of Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home in Augusta. L

Delores H. “Dee” Schumaker, 69, St. Mary’s, registered nurse, sister of . Norbert Suther of Augusta,
passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2006.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, vJune 12, at Immaculate -Conception Catholic \ Church in St. Marys.
Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. .Marys.
Other survivors include: her husband, Jim of the “home; son, Dennis Schumaker of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughters, Denise Schumaker of Lenexa and Lisa Wyatt of Wichita; sisters, Lucinia Tolliver of Topeka, Mary McDaniel of Dallas, Texas, Marilyn Houpt of Kimberling City, Mo., and Linda Bloom of Goff; other brothers, Hubert Suther of Wetmore, Leonard Suther of Casper, Wyo., and Bill Suther of Dallas; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
Memorials may be sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple, St. Marys, 66536.

Phyllis Nadine Jones

Phyllis Nadine Jones, 87, Fort Collins, Colo., sister of Lois Sue Allen of Augusta, died on Wednesday, June 7, 2006.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins.
Other survivors are: husband, Albert Willis Jones; son, Larry Jones, both of Fort Collins; daughter, Lynda Schneider of Derby; six grandchildren; 16 great>

Fred Sartin

Fred Sartin, Douglass, former Butler County employee and timer cutter, died on Saturday, June 10, 2006.
Funeral service will be announced by Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services in Wichita.

Kenneth R. Douglas

Former Augustan Kenneth R. Douglas, 80, of Shawnee, passed way Thursday, June 8, 2006.
His graveside service was held today, June 12, at Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born FEb. 20, 1926 in Bend, Ore., as the son of Arthur and Martha (Bell) Douglas.
Douglas was a retired crew chief and foreman in sheet metal fabrication from Beech Aircraft.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
On Jun 4, 1947, he married Lucille Wolfe in Gallatin, Mo., She preceded him in death in October of 1988.
He was wed to Ruth Huffman Jan. 5, 1993 in Bentonville, Ark. She died in August of 2002.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers.
Douglas leaves children, Rita Murrey of Wichita, Gary Douglas and wife Linda of Sedgwick, Ann Beasley and husband Kirk of St. Paul, Minn., David Douglas, and
Karen Baldwin of Olathe, Terry Huffman and wife Glynnis of New Hartford, Conn., Diane Stowell and husband Gene of Andover;
sister Laura Jones and husband Larry of Prairie Village; 10 grandchildren; four great-grand- children.
