Brian J. Zerbe
Brian J. Zerbe, 49, died at home of a sudden cardiac arrest on Thursday Feb. 28, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Augusta United Methodist Church,
Brian was born May 1, 1958 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and moved as a baby to Augusta, where he lived for more than 40 years. He worked at the family's newspaper, the Augusta Daily Gazette, in positions of increasing responsibility
before leaving to pursue a bachelor's degree. He graduated from Wichita State University with a degree in gerontology in 1992.
Brian was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Rawls) Zerbe, and father of two children, Rhiannon of Wichita and Richard of the home.
In addition to his wife and children, Brian is survived by: his mother and father, Carter and Lolita Zerbe of Augusta; his sister and brother-in-law, Brenda (Zerbe) and Elliott Rodda and their children Elijah and Emory of Winfield; and two grandchildren,
Madeline Carnahan and Cole Martin.
Memorials may be made to the Augusta United
Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.

Leroy Scharff
Leroy Scharff, 60, farmer and former International Harvester diesel mechanic, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008.
Service was held at 10 a.m. this morning at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial in Severy Cemetery.
Leroy was born in Eureka, on March 14, 1947, the son of the late Basil Frank and Waneta Murele (Book) Scharff.
On May 23, 2003 he married Dawn (Davis) Samuelson in Miami Okla, and she survives.
Other survivors include: son, David Scharff and wife Linda of Douglass; daughter, Alice Schuh of Wichita; step son, Eric Samuelson of Haysville; step daughter, Crystal Samuelson of Haysville; sisters, Jewell Mapes; and Rhonda Smith both of Wichita; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son, Gary and sister, Debbie.

Vera M. Ketterman, 93, Augusta, retired Farm and Home Furniture clerk, lifelong Butler Co. resident, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008.
Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. this evening at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.
Graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p .m. on Wednesday, March 5, at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Her survivors include: sons, Edward (Wauneta) of Douglass, Richard
(Charlotte) of Towanda, and William of Augusta; 10 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by: husband, Melvin; one sister and two brothers.
