Dr. Thomas L. Day
Dr. Thomas L. Day, 83, Augusta, passed away on Tuesday, June 10,2008.
Viewing 1-8 p.m. Sunday, with family to greet friends from 3-5 p.m. and service 1:30 p.m. Monday,
June 16, all at Headley Funeral Chapel Augusta. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
He was born in Edgerton, Kans. on Sept. 4, 1924; the son of Lambert Payton and Geneva Alene (Johnson) Day.
Dr. Day was a dentist for over 35 years and cofounder of Magic Focus in Augusta.
He had served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific theatre with the 6th Marine Division and was recently honored by the 35th infantry division for his outstanding work as an infantryman and radio operator assisting the artillery maneuvers during the
occupation of Okinawa. He also served in Guadal Canal.
Dr. Day graduated from KSU with a bachelor's and finished with a degree in dentistry
from UMKC. He was a member of the Augusta VFW and the American Dental Association. His hobbies included reading, golf, and attending KS State football games.
On Aug. 8,1966 he married Eloise Hurlburt in Enid, Okla.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: daughters, Roxanne E. Limon and husband Les of El Dorado, and Mary L. Battle and husband John of Brazoria, Texas; sons, Robert T. Day of Augusta, and Scott R. Day and wife Candy of Augusta; sister, Pauline L. Kennedy of Clayton, Mo.; brother, Richard E. Day and wife Ruth of Berkley Springs. WV; grandchildren, James
Limon, Clint Rogers, Sabrina Day, Tanner Day, Reita Maggard, Morgan Limon, Deena Kendrick, Brandi Day, Heather Day, Jason Day; four step grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; one great-great- grandchild.
He was preceded in death by parents; sister, Alene Day; brothers, George E. Day and Robert W. Day; and grandson Warren Day.

Tony Wallace, 70, Augusta , passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2008.
Memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Tony was born on March 27, 1938, in Augusta, to the late Loren Winters and Jean Alpha (Wadsworth) Wallace. She retired as an executive secretary from Beech Aircraft after 33 years. She was a member and deaconess of the First Baptist Church and a Soroptimist Club member in Augusta. She also volunteered at the Augusta Community Caring Center.
Her survivors: aunt, Arene Leedom of Augusta; cousins, Linda (Louie) Williams of Augusta, Gary “Buck” Leedom of Wichita, and Jerry (Sue) Clark Hess of Rogers, Ark.; brother-in-law, Chuck Simmons of Omaha; nephews,
Britt Simmons of Freemont, Neb., Jared Simmons, Cade Simmons, both of Omaha; two great-nieces.
Preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Simmons.
Memorials to the Augusta First Baptist Church.
