Ernest Robben Rites Pending
Ernest Robben, 62, Andale, brother-in-law of Leona Schauf of rural Augusta, died Sunday.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
Survivors include his wife, Regina Robben.
Downtown Fire Destroys Store
PITTSBURG, Kan. (AP) -Fire destroyed a furniture store in a three-story brick structure in downtown Pittsburg Sunday.
The blaze raged out of control for more than five hours and caused heavy smoke damage to nearby buildings before firefighters brought it under control, authorities said.
No injuries were reported. The fire was discovered shortly before 2 p.m.
Firefighters from Pittsburg, Girard, Frontenac and Baker Township, hindered by heavy smoke, a temperature of 6 degrees and 10 mph winds, finally brought the blaze under control at 7:30 p.m., officials said.
A bank and a movie theater located on either side of the store suffered heavy smoke damage but were not damaged by flames, fire officials said.
Darrel Bailey Dies at 51
Wirley Darrel Bailey, 51, Augusta, died Dec. 17 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Wichita from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Jan. 26, 1932 in Butler County to Louis Arthur and Gladys Jessie Shaffer Bailey.
He was a general laborer.
Survivors include a son, Larry Dwayne of Wakrusa; brothers, Marion and Melvin, both of Wichita and Dwayne of Augusta, and a sister, Marjorie Varner of Lyndon.
John Mauk Dies At 81
John G. Mauk, 81, Wichita, father of Bill Mauk Sr. of Augusta and Vernon Mauk of Douglass, died Saturday at St. Joseph Medical Center there.
His service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Culbertson Mortuary. Rev. Ed Cherry will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
He was born in Carrier, Okla., Feb. 10, 1902 to Benjamin F. and Salina Dillon Mauk.
He married Pearl R. Reed. She survives.
He was a retired Beech Aircraft Co. employee.
Other survivors include sons, Gene of Baton Rouge, La., Larry of Kansas City, Kan., and Terry of Wichita; daughters, Barbara Wheeler, Joan Dennis, Eleanor Bloom, Connie Stevenson, all of Douglass; a brother, Russell K. of Augusta; sisters, Hazel Brandt of Douglass and Thelma Byrd of Augusta; 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A son, Milton, preceded him in death in 1950.
Minnie McCauley Died In Wichita
Minnie McCauley, 89, Wichita, formerly of Augusta, died at the Woodlawn nursing home in Wichita Friday.
Her service was at 1:30 p.m. today at the Downing & Lahey Mortuary. Rev. Dick Gorham officiated and burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery mausoleum here.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
She was born Feb. 21, 1894 in Butler County to August and Emma Lietzke Skaer.
Survivors include a son, Ralph of El Paso, Texas; a daughter, Christine Guenthner of Wichita, and four grandchildren.

Ernest Robben, 62, Andale, brother-in-law of Leona Schauf of Augusta, died Sunday at his home.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church there. Father Reinhard Eck will officiate and burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 20, 1920 at Ost, Kan., to Bernard and Anna Mary Giefer Robben.
He married Regina Girrens Nov. 5, 1941 in Schulte, Kan. She survives.
He was a farmer and stockman and member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Other survivors include sons, Robert, Greg, both of Wichita, Mike of Haven; daughters, Mary Kay Priesser of Andale, Wanda Winter of Garden Plain, Jane Knoblauch, Donna McGonigle, both of Colwich, Jeanette May of Goddard; brothers, Walt, Paul, both of Viola, Martin, Norbert, both of Mount Hope; sister, Mary Jo Weninger of Garden Plain, and 17 grandchildren.
Wulf Mortuary in Mount Hope is in charge of arrangements.
Florence Wilson
Florence Rickey Wilson, 65, Fredonia, formerly of Leon, died Monday, Dec. 19, at the Fredonia Hospital.
Her funeral service will be 1 o’clock Wednesday at the Timmons Funeral Home in Fredonia and burial will be in the Leon Cemetery in this county.
She was a cousin of Delmer Gaskill and Mrs. Harry Patterson.
