Charles John Taylor
Charles John Taylor, Augusta, died on Nov. 1, 2008.
There will be a private family service.
He was born on Jan. 14, 1918 at Oilton, Okla., the son of William Bryan and Iva Joy (Patterson) Taylor. They moved to El Dorado in 1922. He attended El Dorado schools.
He married Helen Natalie Caldwell on Aug. 19, 1937 in El Dorado by Rev. Fred Condit.
He entered the U.S. Navy on Oct. 1, 1943 and received naval training at the Naval Air Stations at Farragut, Idaho; Norman, Okla.; Widby Island; Seattle, Wash.; and Honolulu, Hawaii.
He served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater and the American theater during World War II. He was separated from service Jan. 3, 1946 at Norman, Okla, as a AMM3/c.
He was employed at Wentlings Rug and Mattress Company, and later employed by the Stear-man Airplane Company. After his discharge from the service, he was on-the-job trained at McClure Motor Company as an auto mechanic. He later worked at Skelly Oil Company for 27 years, retiring in 1978 as an alkali unit operator.
His memberships included: OCAW 5-241 El
Dorado, VFW Post 117 El Dorado, Lions Club Augusta, and the United Methodist Church in Rosalia.
Survivors include: wife, Helen of the home; daughters, Sonja (Dalton) Patterson of Augusta and Connie (Paul) Christman of Wichita; two half-sisters; one half-brother; five grandchildren, Cary Patterson, Cory Patterson, Shiloh Meairs, William Paul Christman, and Bradley Christman; nine great-grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
The family requests no flowers and cards may be sent in care of Carlson Funeral Home, where friends may call.
Memorials in his memory for Rosalia United Methodist Church or Augusta Lions Club can also be sent or left at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to www.carl-soncolonial.com.

Edna Dokken, 78, Derby, mother and mother-in-law of Connie and Bob Chance of Augusta, died on Friday, Oct. 31, 2008.
There will be a private family service.
Other survivors include: sisters, Ione Ryan, Lee Flagg, and Lola Schmitz; twin brother, Ed Larson; brother, George Larson; daughter, Dee Dokken; sons, Dan Dokken and Doug Dokken; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
Memorials to the Derby Senior Center.
