Juanita Derrick

Juanita Nellie Derrick, 95, homemaker, Andover, died on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008.
Private family service will be held.
Survivors include: husband, Odis Derrick; daughter, Phyllis
“Michelle” Garver; three grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren.
Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home, Andover.

Geneva Basore

Geneva Basore, 95, of Halstead, died on Tuesday, Dec. 23,2008.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., with family present from 6:30 to 8 , p.m., on Friday, Dec. 26, at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the First United Methodist Church in Halstead. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Bentley.
The oldest child of Leonard Henry and Edith (Brower) Simpson, she was born on the farm near Towanda.
She attended Pleasant Ridge School and was a
member of Central Baptist Church on the banks of Santa Fe Lake.
She graduated from Augusta High School and attended Central
Commercial College where she met Charles Basore.
Geneva and Charles married Aug. 25, 1935 at Augusta and made their home two miles south of Bentley. He died on June 23,1993.
She was a member of Bentley United Methodist Church and the Bentley TAO Club.
She later joined the First United Methodist Church of Halstead and was a member of Chapter AK PEO Halstead, and Kansas Flying Farmers.
She is survived by: daughter, Carolyn (Larry) Williams, Halstead; son, Richard (Susan) Basore, Bentley;
seven grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Marilyn Sue Basore; brothers, Virgil and Nor-vall Simpson; a sister, Nadine Tarman; and half-brother,Cecil Dunkin.
Memorials may be given to Halstead Historical Society in care Kaufman Funeral Home Halstead.
