Clifford L. Alcorn

Clifford L. Alcorn, 100, of Augusta, passed away, Monday, May 11, 2009, three days before his 101st birthday.
Clifford was born in Ionia, Kan. on May 14, 1908, the son of the late Everett and Ina (Van Meter) Alcorn. After graduating from Kansas State University with a degree in electrical engineering, Clifford worked as a radio engineer for the U. S. Air Force and then worked at Stanford Research Institute in Menlo Park, GA. as a research engineer.
He is survived by: sister, Naoma Finlay of Augusta; nieces and nephews, Pauline Dawson, Dorothy Alcorn and Tom Alcorn; Joyce Davis, Donna Buck-ridge, and Nina Weant; and Bob, Gary and Don Finlay; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel and brothers, Edgar and Paul.
Clifford was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Anthony Wedman

Anthony Wedman of Leon, Kan. passed from the loving arms of his family to the loving arms of His
Lord on Wednesday, May 13,2009 at the Via Christi St. Francis Hospital. Anthony was preceded in death by parents Paul Cleo Wedman and Ida Mary Wedman, and brothers, Paul and Ralph and daughters Linda and Dar-lena.
Viewing will be 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. Friday, at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta. He will be laid to rest in the Calvary Cemetery in Augusta.
He was born in Caldwell, Kan. on Jan. 11, 1935. Anthony served his country proudly in the Army.
Anthony and Dorothy married Nov. 16, 1957. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church of Augusta for 31 years and was a member of the fourth degree of the Knights of Columbus.
Between his love of the land and love for his family his career grew into an amazing lifetime adventure of farming and ranching.
He was proud of his family’s faith and the way everyone helped each other out. He enjoyed spending time on his ranch, going to rodeos, and dances.
The most significant people in his life were his family.
Anthony is survived by: his wife, Dorothy Elizabeth Wedman; daughter, Judy Morgan and spouse Bob and their four children of Houston, Texas, son, Tom Wedman and
spouse Vicky and their five children and three grandchildren of Piedmont, Kan., daughter, Brenda Elmer and spouse Dave and their three children Indianapolis, Ind., son, Robert Wedman and’ four children and two
grand-children of Leon; siblings, Cecila Priesser of Cunningham, Ida Mary Belmear of Medford, Okla., Henry Wedman of Ponca City Okla., and John Wedman of Hutchinson.

He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. He went down with his boots on working cattle just like he wanted.
