Mable Maloney
Mable Maloney, 98, of Everett, Wash., passed away Sunday, Aug, 9, 2009, peacefully at her home in Augusta, Kansas, where she had lived for the past seven years with her daughter, Loretta Kasting.
She was surrounded by many close family members, as well as her devoted caregiver, Steve Barclay.
She was born in Calloway, Neb., April 28, 1911. The family moved to the state of Washington when she was a young girl and she graduated high school in Centralia.
Mable married Kenneth Maloney in 1932, and they made their first home in Seattle. The next move was to Ana-cortes, where they lived for five years before settling in Everett.
Mable was a very active, dedicated homemaker, always involved in her children’s school, sports and extracurricular activities. Their home was always abuzz with
neighborhood kids, family gatherings and friends.
She was a 50-year member of Everett Chapter 222 OES and active in Rainbow Mothers Club.
When husband Kenneth retired in 1972, they enjoyed many RV trips cross-country and to Mexico, numerous wonderful cruises and nearly 30 years of wintering in Mesa, Ariz.
are 17 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was much loved and will be missed by her entire family, especially her beloved dog Bogey, who has been her constant companion and “guardian angel” for the past five years.
Since February 2008, Mable has received wonderful care from her caregiver in addition to hospice, which enable her to stay at home.
Following cremation, she will join her husband at Cypress Memorial Gardens in Everett, Washington.
A private family service will be held. On Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, friends and neighbors are invited to join the family for personal condolences at the Red Brick Grill between the hours of 4 and 5:30 p.m. at 403 Walnut Street in Augusta.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Amedisys Hospice of El Dorado.
Mable was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 1999, and son Skip in 2008. She leaves behind her daughter Loretta Kasting of Augusta, Kansas, daughter Shirley Rammage (and husband Norm) of Chandler, Arizona. She also leaves 11 grandchildren: Cheryl Tucker of Topeka, Tim Kasting, Shawn Blue and Kim Anneler of Augusta, Beth Pourrahimi, Tetry Dad-khah, Aleta Setavu and Tina Maloney of California, and Chris Armstrong, Jenny Barringer and Colton Maloney of Washington.
