Dixie C. Rose

Dixie Colleen Rose, 82, died Aug. 10, 2009 in Wichita. Celebration of her life will be 11 A.M. Friday Aug. 14, 2009 at the First Christian Church. Cremation will precede the service.
Dixie was born Sept. 25, 1926 in Miltonvale, Kansas the j daughter of Orin and 1 Mable (Tali- I ferro) Hazlett
She grew up in Miltonvale where she attended school and graduated from high school. She attended college at Emporia State.
Dixie was a school teacher and the Butler County Register of Deeds from 1974 to 1991. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
She was involved with the Democratic Party on the local and state level. She loved KU basketball and the El Dorado Broncos.
She was an avid bridge player, loved to shop, go to movies, and dance.
Survivors include son Flint of Anacortes, Washington; daughter Flaxn and husband Jeff Huffman of Stillwater, Okla.; sister Joan Stanton of Madison, Ind.; grand children Amanda Stephens, Kathryn Jones and Nicolas Rose.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Bradford Rose and sister Pat Davenport.
A memorial has been established with the Salvation Army Food Bank. Contributions may be left at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home.

James Achenbaugh

James Achenbaugh, 73, Douglass, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009.
His arrangements are pending with the Smith Mortuary of Haysville.

James R. ‘Bob’ Thurman

James R. “Bob” Thurman, 76, Andover, passed away Aug. 8, 2009.
His graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Andover Cemetery.
He was a retired worker for Cessna Aircraft.
Mr. Thurman leaves his wife, Dianne; daughter Lisa Macy and husband Charles of Wichita; son Jim Sharp of Wichita; brother John and wife Judy of Rock Hill, S.C.; sisters Karen and her husband Don Wallace of Garfield, Ark., and Kay and her husband Lee Howell of Howard.
Memorials to Hospice Care of Kansas have been suggested.



Edward Paschal

Edward Duane Paschal, Augusta School system employee, died, Aug.4, 2009.
His service is 10 am Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009 at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Wichita.
Visitation is 6 pm this evening at Jackson Mortuary.
He is survived by his sons, Nate Paschal of Wichita, Justin Paschal of Denver, CO and Sean Paschal of Wichita; daughter, Taracea Varone of Denver, CO; mother
and father, Vira Paschal and Irving Paschal of Wichita; brothers, Nathaniel Paschal of Bennington, NE, Eugene Paschal of Dallas, TX, Jonathon Paschal, Timothy Paschal and Rev. Samuel (Linda) Paschal all of Wichita, sisters, Vira (Homer) Salton of Maize, Towanda Sue (Larry) Paschal-Jones of Salina, Marie Smith, Alice Paschal, Kathy Fitch-patrick, Arria Paschal and Doris (Bay) Paschal-Garrett, all of Wichita; grandson, Vinny and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
