Former Augustan Dies In Oklahoma
Jack Arnold, 57, Enid, Okla., formerly of Augusta, died there Sunday.
His funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Henninger-Allen Chapel in Enid. Rev. T. Arnold Davis will officiate and burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery there.
A memorial has been established with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City, Okla. Memorials may be sent in care of the Henninger-Allen Chapel, Box 507, Enid, Okla., 73702.
He was born Dec. 9, 1926 in Augusta to George and Anna Arnold.
He married Estella Dennett Jan. 15, 1947 in Wichita. She survives.
He worked for Otasco while he lived here and later worked for the Enid public school system.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Mike Arnold of Enid; a daughter, Helen Mondoux of Sulpher Springs, Texas; brothers, Gordon of Augusta and Glenn of Wichita; sisters, Lola Chappell, Georgia Colbert, Esther Blake, all of Augusta and Jean Woods of Gillette, Wyo., and four grandchildren.

John D. McEwen Died Saturday
John D. McEwen, 86, Wichita, father of Owen McEwen of Augusta, died Saturday.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Lakeview Mortuary in Wichita.
Memorials have been established with the First Presbyterian Church in Wichita and Wesley Medical Center there.
He was chairman of the board at Steffen’s Dairy.
McEwen rose from the ranks of an ice plant manager when he joined the firm in 1917. During his years in Wichita, he was a leader in civic clubs, banking and development. He was named to Steffen’s board of directors in 1930, named president of the company in 1942 and became chairman in 1946. He turned over the presidency to his son, Owen McEwen in 1962.
Other survivors include his wife, Charlotte, of the home;
two daughters, Ellen Enoch of Denver, Colo., and Jeanneen Moore of Manitou Springs, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Rites Tomorrow For Edwin Hogue
Edwin L. Hogue, 86, Leon, died Monday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Leon United Methodist Church. Rev. Jean Wilcox will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in El Dorado.
He was born Oct. 4, 1897 near Leon to William C. and Mary Palmer Hogue.
He married Eva Wilma Sluss Oct. 16, 1921 in El Dorado. She survives.
He was a lifelong Leon resident. He taught school for a time and later became a partner at a drugstore in Leon. In October of 1921, the Hogues purchased the grocery store which they continued to operate until his death.
He was a member of the Leon United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Joppa Masonic Lodge and had served as secretary, treasurer and past master of the organization. He was a member of the Little Walnut Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a life member of the Wichita Consistory. He served on the Leon City Council and the board of education.
Other survivors include a daughter, Kathryn Aldrich of Leon and a granddaughter, Rhonda Aldrich of Los Angeles, Calif.
Carlson Funeral Home of El Dorado is in charge of arrangement.

Clara E. Bence Funeral Today
A funeral service for Clara Etta Bence, 90, Route 2, were at 10 a.m. today at the Dunsford Funeral Home.
She died Friday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
The day of her service was incorrect in yesterday’s Gazette.
Rev. Jack Tomman and Rev. S.D. Hartzler officiated at her services today. Burial was in the Old Mission Cemetery in Wichita.
A memorial has been established with Gideons International, 4 Wells Drive, Rose Hill, Kan., 67133.
