Merle Cantu
F. Merle Cantu, 85, passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2010 in Muskogee, Okla.
The family will be present for visitation from 6-8 p.m. this evening; funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, both at.Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home, Augusta.
Merle was born on Nov. 3,1924, and stated the doctor was excellent, but poor with numbers because her birth certificate indicated that she was born on Nov. 1 to Chester M. and Mary A. (Irwin) Baker in Purcell, Mo. During WWII she met a young soldier, Louis Cantu at a USO dance and they were married on July 21,1946 in Webb City, Mo. Louis and Merle lived in Missouri and Texas before finally settling in Augusta, Kan. Merle and Louis enjoyed almost 50 years, of marriage but Louis passed away five days before their anniversary. Seven children were born into their family;
Ronald, Garry, Barry, Dennis, Patrick, Mary and Cindy. After Louis' passing, Merle went to Porum Landing, Okla, to live with her daughter Cindy and family.
Mourning her passing are: her children, Ronald of Porum Landing, Okla., Garry (Norma) of El Dorado, Barry of Wichita, Dennis (Linda) of Augusta, Patrick (Norene) of Plainville, Mary Hill of Indiana, Cindy (Greg) Smith of Porum Landing, Okla.; one sister, Bernice Wormley; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives
and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Louis, brother, Bill and sister, Shirley.
Memorials to the Senior Center of Augusta or Epilepsy Foundation in care of the funeral home.

Marilou Morris Stevens, 81, of Augusta, passed away Saturday, Aug. 21,
2010.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28,2010 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, Kansas.
Marilou was born in Butler County, Kan. on April 16,1929, the daughter of the late Hugh and Grace (Parker) Plummer. She graduated from Kilgore College where she was a Ran-gerette, and in 1959 she graduated from Louisiana State University. In 1973 Marilou received her Masters degree in counseling and in 1979 she received her PhD in school administration both from the University of Denver. She had been a co-owner of Colorado Tech College in Colorado Springs from 1980 to 1981, and the assistant director of Union School in Port-a-Prince, School in Port-a-Prince, Haiti.
Marilou had also been a real estate broker and salesperson for Jonathans Landing Realty in Jupiter, Fla.; served on the board of directors of Gallery of Arts in Vernal, Utah and the Children's Show in Denver, Colo. She was honored as English Teacher of The Year 1963, a Peabody Vanderbuilt Fellow 1969 and South Suburban Board of Realtors. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and she was a licensed Mental Health Counselor at Bayview Center in Miami, Fla. On March 28, 2003 she married Ray Stevens and he survives.
She is also survived by: sons, Mike Morris and David Morris of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Cheryl Sarkozy of Palm Beach Garden, Fla.; sister, Patricia Richey of Augusta; sister- in-law Doris Plummer of Augusta; brothers, Charles Plummer and wife JoAnn of Lakeland, Fla., and John Plummer and his wife Judy of Monet, Mo.; grandchildren, Phillip Gilmour of Brooklyn, NY, Paul Sarkozy of Boulder, Colo., Joseph Sarkozy of Palm Beach Garden, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
