Virginia Hizey

Virginia Hizey, 72, of Augusta, passed away, Sunday, Aug.29, 2010.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Thursday, with family to greet friend from 6 to 8 p.m., at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday,
Sep. 3,2010, at the First United Methodist Church, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Virginia was born in Labette, Kan. on Oct. 23, 1937; the daughter of the late William N. and Edith Mae (Hunter) Newton Sr. On June 5,1955 she married Bob Hizey in Galesburg, Kan. She was a homemaker, and owned and operated, with Bob, Hizey Service and Supply. Virginia enjoyed gardening, baking, playing cards, and spending time at their cabin at Beaver Lake, Ark. She was a member of PEO, Junior Forum, Pinochle Card Club, and Bridge Club. Virginia was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Augusta since moving here in 1958. She served on the initial building committee throughout the whole building process of the present church, was very active in United Methodist Women, Seekers Sunday School Class, and represented the Augusta United Methodist Church at annual conference for several years. Her faith and strong Christian values helped her get through many obstacles in her life and be the wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and sister that she was.
In addition to her husband she is survived by: daughters, Deborah Turpin and husband Dave, and Diane Kiser and husband Mike, all of Augusta; brother, William Newton Jr. and wife Carolyn of Parsons; sisters, Carolyn Newmas-ter and husband Mike of Ottawa, Kan., Margie Batson and husband Roger of Bella Vista, Ark., Jane Washburn and husband Frank of Hastings, Neb.; grandchildren and spouses, Brian and Natalie Turpin, Kenny and Nicole Turpin, Kevin and Julie Turpin, Angie Kiser, Mitch and Ali Kiser, and Jill Kiser; and great grandchildren, Annie, Caleb, Holland, Chloe, Ragen, Addelyn, Dalton, and Brigden Turpin. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Memorials to the First United Methodist Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.

Brett Lewis

Brett Daniel Lewis, 41, handyman of Augusta, passed away, Saturday, August 28, 2010. Visitation 6-8 p.m .Wednesday and service 10 a.m.
Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 all at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Brett was born in Wichita on Aug. 1, 1969 the son of Kenneth W. and Peggy (McFeely) Lewis of Augusta.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by: longtime companion, Sandy Endicott and her daughter, Hannah Trudell and son, Dustin Endicott of Augusta; brother, Darrin Lewis and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Lewis.
