Linda Wise dies at 38
Linda Wise, 38, Kansas City
Mo., died today at a hospital
there. Her funeral is pending at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta Burial will be in the Dunlap Cemetery of rural Rose
She was born Aug. 1, 1945 in
Scottsbluff, Neb., to Forest Harold and Furl Kinion
McKnight.
She married David Wise. He survives.
She worked for Peat Marwick, a certified public accounting firm in Kansas City.
Survivors include a stepson, Charles Wise; a stepdaughter, Jayme Wise, both of the home; a brother, Delmas McKnight of Rose Hill.
Her parents and a sister preceded her in death.

Linda Wise rites today
A funeral service was conducted at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta for Linda McKnight Wise, 38, Kansas City, Mo.
Lecil Sullivan officiated and burial was in the Dunlap Cemetery in rural Rose Hill.
Wise died Friday at a Kansas City hospital.
She was born Aug. 1, 1945 in Scottsbluff, Neb., to Forest Harold and Furl Kinion McKnight.
She married David Wise Jan. 25, 1980 in Kansas City. He survives.
She was a supervisor for Peat-Marwick-Mitchell, Certified Public Accountants.
Other survivors include a stepson, Charles Wise and a stepdaughter, Jayme Wise, both of the home, and a brother, Delmas McKnight of Rose Hill.

Dovie Smedley dies at hospital
Dovie L. Smedley, 69, Route 1, died Wednesday, April 11, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lakeview Mortuary Chapel in Wichita. Rev. Doyle Mendenhall will officiate and burial will be at the Lakeview Cemetery.
She was born Dec. 18, 1914 in Laverne, Okla.
She married John Smedley. He preceded her in death.
She worked in the meat department at the Safeway Food Store.
Survivors include sons, John of Spring Valley, Calif., Charles of San Leandro, Calif.; mother, Elsie Ruckman of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brother, Carl Ruckman; sister, Jessie Howard, both of Oklahoma City, and two grandchildren.

Missouri man died at scene
A 41-year-old Excelsior Springs, Mo., man died when the car he was driving collided with a semi-trailer truck yesterday near Elbing in northwest Butler County.
Sheriff Dave Williams said Robert L. Sipes was dead at the scene.
Sipes was driving a 1983 Dodge that went left of center and struck the truck head on, according to Williams.
Roy D. Michael, 48, Girard, was the driver of the truck. He was not injured.
The accident occurred about 11:15 a.m. yesterday, 4 1/2 miles east of Elbing on First Street.

Mearl J. Usrey died Tuesday
Mearl Jean Usrey, 63, 1323 State, died Tuesday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Kirby Morris Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. at the Elmwood Cemetery in Chanute. Rev. Wayne Sharp will officiate.
She was born Dec. 11, 1920 in Hutchinson to Frank and Bertha German Parker.
She married Roy W. Beck in
1939. He preceded her in death in 1949.
In 1955, she married Clyde Usrey in El Dorado. He survives.
She was a sales lady at the Montgomery Ward Store in El Dorado.
Other survivors include her mother, Bertha Parker of Mount Vernon, Mo.; two daughters, Judy Mies of El Dorado and Janice Pippin of Augusta; a brother, B.F. Parker Jr. of Potwin; a sister, Margie Bayless of Emporia; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Bessie Olson, 98, Augusta, died today at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral arrangements are pending.
Survivors include a son, Bill Olson of Augusta.
