Louis Alfaro, 54, dies,
funeral mass Wednesday
Louis J. Alfaro, 54, 1125 Ohio, died this morning at the Augusta Medical Complex.
The rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church. Father David Cushing will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born April 14, 1930 in Cassoday to Trinidad M. and Carmen Huaracha Alfaro.
He married Mary Olive Means in Augusta Feb. 22, 1953. She survives.
He was a tool designer at Beech Aircraft in Wichita for more than 30 years.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Alfaro coached girls and womens softball teams in Augusta for a number of years. He also coached Augusta girls teams that played in an El Dorado league for the last several years.
Other survivors include sons, Stephen of Augusta, Dominic of the home; daughters, Tonya Cruz of Wichita and Christina of the home; brothers, Henry of Bentonville, Ark., Trinidad Jr., of Augusta and Michael of Oxnard, Calif.; sisters, Mary Alfaro, Edith Resa and Carmen Call, all of Augusta, Margaret Palacioz of Newton and Sister Angelita A.S.C. of Carlsbad, N.M., and five grandchildren.
A son, Vincent, preceded him in death in 1976.
The Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Augustan’s mother died Saturday,
funeral today
Virinda M. Garnett, 78, Kingman, mother of Gloria Robb of Augusta, died Saturday following a short illness.
Her funeral was at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Kingman United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Belmont (Kan.) cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Kingman United Methodist Church.
She was born Sept. 17, 1905 in Kingman County.
She married Carl Garnett Dec. 26, 1925 in Wichita. He preceded her in death in 1975.
She was a resident of Butler and Kingman counties most of her life.
Other survivors include a brother, Clinton Stewart of Murdock; a sister, Etta Adams of Bent Wheeler, Texas, and a granddaughter, Dana Robb of Augusta.
Brother dies at hospital
Francis Stroud, 62, Wichita, brother of Irene Banker and Edna Capshaw, both of Augusta, died Saturday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Byrd-Snodgrass Colonial Chapel in Wichita. Pastor Fritz Brandt will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Gardens.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
He was born Oct. 13, 1921 in Goddard to Jesse and Margaret Schauf Stroud.
Stroud married Leona Even-son. She survives.
He retired as a lieutenant for the Wichita Fire Department after 23 years service.
Other survivors include daughters, Linda Cook, Tammy Stroud, both of Wichita, Brenda Byankini of Lake of the Hills, Ill., three brothers, and three grandchildren.

A rosary will be said at 7:30 o’clock this evening in the chapel of Dunsford’s Funeral Home for Louis J. Alfaro, 54, who died yesterday at Augusta Medical Complex.
A mass of resurrection will begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. James Catholic Church and Father David Cushing will officiate.
Alfaro was born April 14, 1930 at Cassoday to Trinidad and Carmen Huaracha Alfaro. He worked as a tool designer at Beech Aircraft in Wichita.
He leaves his wife, two sons, two daughters, three brothers, five sisters and five grandchildren.

Sister dies at 88 in Iola
Ethel L. Noble, 88, Iola, sister of Ruth Brunson of Augusta, died Sunday.
Her funeral was at 3 o’clock this afternoon at the Baptist Church in Hamilton.
She was a retired teacher.
Other survivors include a son, Ted of Arma; daughters, Phyllis Beck of Portland, Ore., Mary Lou Strunk, Donna Rourk, both of Iola; another sister, Martha Springate of Arkansas City; 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
The Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola is in charge of arrangements.
