Jack E. Adams dies at 55
Jack Eugene Adams, 55, Rose Hill, died Monday.
His funeral was today at the Rose Hill United Methodist Church.
A memorial has been established with the Rose Hill Emergency Service.
He was a logistics analyst for Boeing Military Airplane Co. in Wichita.
Survivors include sons, Jack E. II of Rose Hill, J.W. of Kingman, Ariz.; a daughter, Lesley Lynn Polek of Ambler, Pa.; brothers, Paul of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Robert of Troy, Mich., Thomas of Hoffman Estates, Ill., Donald of Lombard, Ill.; sister, Marjorie of Lawrenceburg, Ind., and four grandchildren.

Slim Nixon dies
in El Dorado
Alva L. (Slim) Nixon, 78, El Dorado, formerly of Leon, died Wednesday at Knutson Manor Nursing Home.
His service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Leon Christian Church. Rev. Tony Venturella will officiate and burial will be at the Leon Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Lung Association.
He was born Oct. 28, 1905 in Carbondale to Robert Lee and Nancy Ellen Neighbors Nixon.
He married Edith Seymour July 27, 1930 in El Dorado. She survives.
He was a retired stockman and employee of the El Dorado refinery and the Skelly refinery.
Other survivors include sons, Jim of Bartley, Neb., Stanley of Andover and David of Leon; daughters, Nancy Wonser of Leon, Kathy Wise of Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, Buck Nixon of Long Lane, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado is in charge of arrangements.

Arnold Sawyer dies in Wichita
Arnold Sawyer, 66, Wichita, died Wednesday evening at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Sawyer was a rural mail carrier for U.S. Post Office in Augusta. He also farmed in the Augusta and Andover area.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery in South Haven with Rev. Orvaleen Post officiating.
He will lie in state until 9:30 tonight at the Daw-Hawks Funeral Home in Wellington and from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday at the South Haven United Methodist Church.
He was born April 25, 1917, in Ashton to Raymond Frederick and Lieu Pickett Sawyer. He graduated from South Haven High School where he was active in Future Farmers of America.
In 1935, he left South Haven and moved to Valley Center. On Dec. 29, 1936, he married Prudence Estella Hackney in Wellington. She died Sept. 10, 1958.
He was a member of the Andover Kiwanis Club, Wichita Moose Lodge and the South Haven United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Geneva of the home; his mother, Lieu Sawyer of South Haven; one siter, Mrs. Arlene Molzen, South Haven; and two nephews.

Hazel Smith dies at 77
Hazel B. Smith, 77, Hoisington, formerly of Douglass died Friday.
Her service was at 10:30 a.m. today at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
A memorial has been established with the church.
Survivors include a son, Verlin; a daughter, Geraldine Iannitti, both of Hoisington; a sister, Hazel Hass of Montpelier, Ohio; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Lena Williamson dies in Wichita
Lena A. Williamson, 80, Cheney, mother of Augusta groceryman Ed Williamson, died Wednesday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Downing & Lahey Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. Robert Simison will officiate and burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Greenwich.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
She was born April 3, 1904 in Nebraska to Louis and Mary Vachal Hladik.
She married Merley Williamson. He preceded her in death in 1975.
Other survivors include a son, Bill of Wichita; daughters, Donna Payne of Valley Center, Mary Hamilton of Cheney; brothers, Louis Hladik, George Hladik, Percey Hladik, Fred Hladik, all of Wichita, Frank Hladik of Andover; sister, Ercie Telford of Wichita; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

L.A. Williams dies at 65
Leonard A. Williams, 65, Caney, brother of Francis Williams of Augusta, died Saturday.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Graves Funeral Home in Caney.
A memorial has been established with the American Kidney Foundation.
He was an insurance salesman.
Other survivors include his wife, Mildred; a son, Lynn of Caney; daughter, Ruth Depew of Wichita; brothers, Rudolph of Chautauque, Paul of Bell Gardens, Calif.; Lawrence of Eugene, Ore.; sisters, Delsie Bowen, Veda Botts, both of Coffeyville, and three grandchildren.
