Ex-Augustan dies in Winfield
Mary G. Donegan, 72, Winfield, formerly of Augusta, died Saturday, May 5, at a hospital there.
Friends may call at the Miles Funeral Home in Winfield until 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fair-view Cemetery in Coffeyville. Rev. Carroll Duggins will officiate.
The family asks that contributions be made with the memorial of the donor’s choice.
She was born Aug. 3, 1911 in Lamar, Mo., to Mack Henry and Myrtle Gardner Duggins.
She married Elmer A. Donegan Jan. 28, 1937 in Bartlesville, Okla. He survives.
They moved from Augusta to Winfield in 1977.
She was a drill press operator at Cessna Aircraft in Wichita until her retirement.
She was a Baptist. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Goulds, Fla.
Other survivors include a son, Bill G. Faucette of Goulds, Fla.; brothers, Carroll E. Duggins of Nowata, Okll., a Jack E. Duggins of Gainesville, Fla.
Miles Memorial Chapel of Winfield is in charge of arrangements.
Brother dies in Louisiana
Francis W. Moriarty, 73, of Lafayette, La., died April 28 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
He was the brother of Augusta resident Mary Bowers, who with her husband Theron attended funeral services held Tuesday. Also attending from Augusta were a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Fischer and a niece, Mrs. Lyle Markley.
Services were in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers. Burial was in the Calvary Mausoleum of the Resurrection.
Moriarty was a native of Adamsville, W.Va.. He was the son of the late Francis C. Moriarty and Elizabeth Duffy.
He spent his boyhood in Augusta and graduated from high school here. He was a pioneer in directional drilling in South Louisiana. He moved to Lafayette in 1948 and became associated with Eastman Directional Drilling.
He moved to Odessa, Texas, in 1957 and back to Lafayette in 1961. Upon leaving Eastman in 1967, he became a co-owner of EMCO Directional Drilling Co. He held that position until his retirement in 1976.
He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Knights of Columbus Council 3470 and a former member of Oakbourne Country Club, Acadian Hills Country Club and the Petroleum Club.
Survivors include his wife the former Ruth Brandon of Lafayette; a daughter, Kathryn Killeen of Lafayette; four sisters, Julia Bray of Houston, Sister Carmelita of Mt. St. Mary’s in Wichita, Gertrude Fischer and Mary Bowers, both of Augusta; and four grandchildren.

Roy R. Underwood, 72, Wichita, brother of Hazel Marsh of Augusta, died Saturday at St. Francis Regional Medical Center there.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Resthaven Mortuary. Rev. Dale Ellenberger will officiate and burial will be in the Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
A memorial has been established with St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
He was born April 29, 1912 in Matfield Green to George and Carrie Pracht Underwood.
He married Merle Allmon Dec. 24, 1941 in Wichita. She survives.
He was a retired supervisor at Boeing Military Airplane Co.
Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Donna Sue Harvey of Nashua, N.H.; a brother, Homer of Wichita; sisters, Margaret Corfman of El Dorado, Naomi Murray and Mina Pringle of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ex-Augustan dies at 78
Charlotte L. Hartman, 78, Wichita, formerly of Augusta, died Friday, May 4, at Wesley Medical Center.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m, yesterday at the Old Mission Mortuary in Wichita.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
She was born Oct. 10, 1905 in Topeka to William and Mollie Pummel Bailey.
She married Benjamin Hartman. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Stuart of Philadelphia, Pa.; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Daughter dies in Winfield
Cathryn Lynne Kessinger, 22, Winfield, daughter of Wayne Hutchins, the asphalt plant superintendent at Knebler Construction Co., died Monday.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winfield.
She was an employee of the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; son, Eric Michael at home; parents, Wayne and Sandra Hutchins; brothers, Mike, Jeff, Brian, Stephen, sister Stephanie Hutchins, all of Winfield; grandparents, Mary Hutchins of Oxford and Mr. and Mrs. Hayward Chace of Derby, and a great-grandmother, Bessie Blase of Wichita.
Swisher-Taylor-Morris Funeral Home in Winfield is in charge of arrangements.
