Shirley Bowman
Shirley May (Wear) Bowman, 71, Augusta, passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 15,


Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home, Augusta. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Haverhill Christian Church, 10275 Haverhill Road, Augusta. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Shirley was born Dec. 19,1939 in Sedalia, Mo. to David Franklin and Olevia May (Snapp) Wear. She graduated in Augusta with the class of 1958. On Sept. 25, 1960 she married the love of her life, Ronald L. Bowman in Overland Park, Kan. They lived in several places before settling in Augusta in 1979. Shirley retired from the U.S. Post Office in El Dorado in December of 1999 after 23 years of service. She was a member of Haverhill Christian Church, participated in water aerobics at the YMCA and even though receiving three kidney implants, she still loved mowing her yard, fishing and camping. She loved her family dearly and the times they would all get together.
Survivors include: her husband Ronald of the home; daughters, Cynthia (David) Schoffstall and Beverly (Kevin) Pennington; son, William "Bill" (Christie) Bowman all of El Dorado; five grandchildren, Ryan and James Pennington, Jacob and Abigail Schoffstall and Brayden Bowman; brother, Ray (Lou) Wear, Overland Park; sister, Sandra (Darrell) Trebbe of Augusta.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Landen Bowman.
A memorial has been established with Midwest Transplant Network,
1035 N. Emporia, Wichita, KS 67214, or in care of the fural home.

Patricia A. Bevan

Patricia A. Bevan, age 76, Wichita, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2011.
Visitation held from 3-8 p.m., today and 1-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb.
17, at Affinity All Faiths Mortuary in Wichita. Family dinner will be held at noon on Friday, 18, at the Peabody Christian Church. The graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. on Friday, at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, Vernon Tannahill and Lena Lago; brother, Jerry Lago; daughter, Susie Pogue.
Survived by: husband Lyal Bevan; sons, Anthony Konert of Iowa, David Konert and Mike Konert, both from Wichita; daughter, Mindy Konert, of Missouri.; brothers, Donald Tannahill, Olathe, Billy Lago, Calif., and Larry Lago, Augusta; sisters, Jean Heggamire, Texas, Ginger Bevan of Leon, Sue Shoal, SD, Rita Jo Voss; Nev., Donna Hague, Peabody.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers a memorial can be sent to Harry Hynes Hospice, Wichita.


Royce ‘Ed’ Harmon

Royce "Ed" Harmon, 86, Denver, Colo., father of Michael Harmon of Augusta, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 15,2011.
Visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Denver. Funeral service at 11 a.m., Friday, at Bear Valley Church of Christ, Lakewood.

Ralph I. Bretches, 78, of Augusta, died Feb. 11, 2011.
Service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Salem United Methodist Church, 115 Old Main, Newton.
Survivors: wife, Sue; daughter, Kelly Darby; son, SFC Andrew Bretches; six grandchildren.
