Naoma Hufman

Naoma Maxine (Henry) Hufman, 90, homemaker, restaurant cook and laundry worker at Augusta Medical Complex, passed away, Sunday, June 26,2011, at Lakepoint of Augusta.
Viewing will be from 1-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28 and visitation with family greeting friends will be from 7-8 p.m., at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, First Assembly of God Church, 3626 North Ohio, in Augusta. Interment to follow in Cumberland Cemetery, rural Augusta.
Naoma was born Sept. 18, 1920, to Floyd Neal and Rena Grace (Yarger) Henry in El Dorado. She married James Wilmer Hufman on Jan.12, 1946, in Augusta.
Survivors include: her son, Larry and his wife Ralina of Junction City.

Clare E. Patterson, Jr.

Clare E. Patterson, Jr., 71, of Apache Junction, Ariz., passed away on Feb. 3,
2011.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. (weather permitting) on June 30, at the family farm, 12361 SW Boyer Rd., Augusta, (casual dress).
Clare was born on June 23,1939, the son of Clare and Jessie Patterson of rural Augusta. He attended Washington Rural Grade School, Augusta High School, and Green River College in Auburn, Wash. Clare was united in marriage to Helen El-richs on Jan. 1,1959, in El Dorado. Clare was an Off Load Manager, reporting to the Director of Material for the Boeing Co. in Wichita, and Seattle, Wash., retiring in 1992 after 26 years of service.
He is survived by: his wife. Helen of Anarhe. Clare was preceded in
death by: his sister, Clarice Aletha Patterson, and parents, Clare E. Patterson, Sr. and Jessie B. Patterson.
Memorial contributions in his memory shall go to the Augusta Historical Theatre, P.O. Box 561, Augusta, KS 67010.

Harold ‘John’ Brewer, Sr.

Harold John Brewer, Sr., 80, Beaumont, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011, peacefully with his family by his side.
Viewing 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Headley Funeral Chapel. Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at the Christian Church of Beaumont, with grave service following.
John was born on the farm north of Latham, Kan. on May 31,1931, the son of the late Fred Earl and Fern Elizabeth (Spohr) Brewer. He was drafted into the Army on Oct. 15,1952. He spent two weeks in Crowder, Mo. obtaining clothing, then he went to Camp Chafe, Ark. for two weeks. At Camp Chafe he completed drills. From there he went to Ft. Sill, Okla, and spent eight

and his observation battalion was within two weeks of leaving when the treaty was signed and the Korean War had ended. He received an Honorable Discharge on Oct. 14,1954. John enjoyed working in the oil industry for Rex & Morris Drilling Company, he became an independent oil pumper and worked for several different companies. He was also a maintainer for Hickory Township. John was a member of the Beaumont Christian Church, a volunteer firefighter of 25 years with his wife Marce, for Butler County Fire District #9 Leon and Beaumont, volunteer of The Friends of the Beaumont Water Tower for 22 years, and was a 60 year member of the Latham Masonic Lodge #401. On May 3,1985 he married Marcella "Marce" Squier and she survives of the home.
He is also survived by: daughters, Vickie Farley and friend Roger Green, Ann Hoffman and husband Stuart of Muskogee, Okla.; son, Harold J. Brewer, Jr. and wife Phyllis of Augusta; brothers, James Earl and wife Lorene and Jack and wife Leah all of Latham; aunt and uncle, Ethel ans Dick Manning of Fritch, Texas; grandchildren, Andrea, Candice, Kaylee, Craig, Amanda, Ashley, Shayla, Roger; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Ashten, Mackenzie, Preston, Lyn
