Dorothy Peak-Chastain 88, MANHATTAN

Dorothy Peak-Chastain, 88, died Thursday, August 4, 2011 in Manhatan, Kan. Dorothy Peak-Visita- Chastain tion with
family will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday; a celebration of her life will be 1 p.m. Monday, both at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado.
Dorothy was born Nov. 17,1922 in Penrose,
Colo., the daughter of George and Etta (Robinette) Sammons. She was united in marriage to Bob Chastain on June 18, 2006 in El Dorado. She was a member of the Pentecostal lighthouse Church, she loved her church family. Dorothy was an avid traveler, painter, shopper, dancer and watching cowboy movies. She loved animals; she would rescue animals and take care of them.
Survivors include: children, Janice and husband Richard Edwards of Manhattan, Marilyn and husband David Gut-tenberg of Fairbanks, Alaska, John and wife Paula Governski,III of Wamego; grandchildren, Gayla, Tanice, Deanna, Shonna, Beau, John Carl IV and Cheby; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, four brothers and three sisters and parents.

Ana Marie Purple Herod 76, Derby

Anna Marie Purple Herod,age 76, of Derby, retired teacher, passed away Monday, Aug. 8, 2011.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Wednesday, family present 5-8, at Smith Family Mortuary, Derby. Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, First United Methodist Church in Garden City. Burial 11 a.m. Friday, Glenwood Cemetery (near Walnut, Kan.).
Survived by: her husband, Jon Herod; children Jeff (Becki) Herod of Douglass, and Kathy (Bill) Winquist of Charlotte, NC; three granddaughter; a grandson to be born; five brothers; one sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established with Finney County 4-H Foundation Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 478, Garden City, KS 67846.

Guy Michael Sawhill 47, Wichita

Guy Michael Sawhill, age 47, also known as Alexander Guy Wills, of Wichita, died Aug. 5, 2011.
Memorial service was held this morning at the First Presbyterian Church in Derby.
Survived by: his parents, Walter and Joyce Sawhill of Haysville; brothers, David and Steven both of Haysville; sisters, Janet Peery of Norfolk, Va., and Lauri (Larry) Brown of Douglass.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ora Scott.
Memorials have been established with Bartlett Arboretum in Belle Plaine, and the First Presbyterian Church of Derby.
