James Gustin dies at 89
James K. Gustin, 89, Douglass, died Wednesday at the Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Olathe cemetery. Rev. Dan Ferguson will officiate.
He was born Nov. 1, 1894 in Quincy to James and Rosella Kennedy Gustin. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired postal employee.
Nieces and nephews survive.
Rites Saturday for Doris Goeken
Services for Doris L. Goeken, 61, Rose Hill, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita.
She died Tuesday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Toepffer of Rose Hill, whose name was reported incorrectly by the funeral home.
McLeland dies at 57
John E. McLeland, 57, Derby, father of Scott McLeland of Douglass, died Thursday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Derby. Rev. James Reed will officiate and burial will be in Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin, Ill.
A memorial has been established with the Woodlawn United Methodist Church.
He was born Dec. 2, 1926 in Raytown, Mo., to Clarence W. and Mary Bowring McLeland. He married Mary Sue Rippy June 26, 1953 in Odin. She survives.
He was a vice president in charge of production for Petroleum Inc. in Wichita. He was a member of the board of directors of Petroleum Inc., the American Petroleum Institute and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Other survivors include a son, Steve of Wichita; a brother, C.W. McLeland Jr., of Wichita; a sister, Mildred Elliott of Port Orford, Ore., and a granddaughter.
Smith Mortuary in Derby is in charge of arrangements.
Judge’s father dies
John Edward Jaworsky, 72, Newton, father of Mike Jaworsky, Butler County associate district court judge, died Wednesday in Newton.
His service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Peterson Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Haven of Rest Cemetery in Hillsboro.
A memorial has been established with Methodist Youthville in Newton.
He was born Dec. 2, 1911 in Hillsboro to Edward and Helen Brown Jaworsky. He married Anne Funk Aug. 12, 1939 in Hillsboro. She survives.
He was a mechanic and had worked for Hesston Manufacturing and Hillsboro Industries.
Survivors also include a son, Gregory of Wichita; three daughters, Linda Jaworsky of Wichita, Diana Cushing of Salt Lake City, Utah and Karen McDonald of Huntsville, Ala.,; a brother, Carl of Hillsboro, and two sisters, Ellenora Dickinson of Wichita and Evelyn Melton of Tucson, Ariz.

Ex-Augustan dies at 79
William Henry Wheeler, 79, Trona, Calif., formerly of Augusta, died Friday.
His service will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Trona, Calif., Four Square Church.
He was a retired boilermaker for Stauffer Chemical Co.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughters, Linda Parlet, Barbara Therault, both of Trona; sister, Gail Smith of Augusta; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Holland & Lyons Mortuary in Ridgecrest, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
Father dies in Winfield
Homer F. Deichman, 83, Winfield, father of Olen F. Deichman of Augusta, died Sunday at a hospital there.
His service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Atlanta United Methodist. Burial will be in the Wilmot, Kan. cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Atlanta United Methodist Church.
Dec. 12, 1900 in near Atlanta to Frank and Mary Volkman Deichman.
He married Florence Peterson July 8, 1925 in Winfield. She survives.
They lived and farmed northeast of Atlanta about 45 years.
Survivors also include a son, Loren of Arco, Idaho; a brother, John P. of Wichita; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Stella Kreeger dies at 88
Stella Frances Kreeger, 88, Route 2, died yesterday at the Douglass Nursing Center in Douglass.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Garrison Cemetery. Rev. Richard Axmann will officiate.
She was born Sept. 21, 1895 in
Rose Hill to Albert N. and Nellie
Burton Johnson.
She married James Allen Kreeger Sept. 16, 1931 in E Dorado. He preceded her in death.
Two brothers, Levi and Joel Johnson, and a sister, Elma Nance, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a nephew Bryon Freeman of Augusta and a grandchild.
