Paul E. Keller
79, WILMINGTON, CA

Paul E. Keller, 79, Wilmington, Calif., formerly of Augusta, passed away on Oct. 23, 2011, after a heroic eight and a half year battle with cancer.
Paul was born in El Dorado, to Ernest and Stella Keller. He grew up in Augusta and graduated from Augusta High School in 1950. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951 and served three years in Germany. After an honorable discharge, he moved to Wilmington, Calif, to learn the glazing trade from his uncle, purchasing his uncle’s business, Beebe Glass Shop in 1954. He returned to Augusta for his 15th high school reunion and became reacquainted with former classmate Donna Vancil. After a long-distance courtship, Paul and Donna were married in September 1966, and soon settled in Southern California.
Paul was a Mason of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry (Scottish Rite), and a member of the Ancient and Accepted of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (Shriners). He sang with the Elks Choraleers and was past president of the Wilmington Junior Chamber of Commerce. Paul happily retired in 2000 after 46 years as owner of Beebe Glass Shop. He thoroughly enjoyed weekend getaways to San Diego with his family. He loved morning walks and coffee with his daughter, watching sports with his son, learning about soccer from his son-in-law, good (and bad) jokes, good food, good wine, and good gin martinis (with a couple of onions). He was always up for a trip to the mall, a new restaurant, or a movie outing. His most recent adventure was an Alaskan cruise with his daughter and son-in-law. His gallantry, generous spirit, kind heart, keen intelligence, and wicked wit will be deeply missed by his many friends and family, including: wife, Donna; daughter, Lori Keller and son-in-law, Randy Marsh; sons, Lee Marley, Jeff (Linda ) Marley; sister-in-law, Nina Vancil; granddaughter, Kristine Dillon (Shane); grandson, Jason Marley (Constance); great-grandsons, Jude, K. J., and Jaxon; dear friends, Raul and Sandi Salomon; other daughter, Pilar Salomon; adopted son, Frank R. East, Jr.; and birthday buddy, Dennis (Joyce) Thrasher.
