Dwain Hoops
89, AUGUSTA
Dwain Allen Hoops, 89, retired private practice attorney from Rochester, Minn., passed away peacefully, Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at his son’s home in Augusta.
There will be no local services. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Dwain was bom Jan. 13,1922, to Walter Mathias and Audrey Etta (Babcock) Hoops in Schuyler, Neb. He served in the United States
Marines as a lieutenant colonel and a pilot during World War II and also the Korean War. Dwain received his undergraduate degree from Carlton College
and his law degree from the University of Minnesota. After graduation he became the Vice President of the First National Bank of Rochester.
His survivors include: his son, Brandon Hoops of Augusta; his former wife and best friend, Marilyn of rural Rose Hill; great-grandchildren, Brandie, Christian, Taylor and Connor Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carroll Jean Davis, and a brother Beverly "Bo" Hoops.

93, WINFIELD
Dorothy Lea Balsimo, 93, of Winfield, formerly of Augusta, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. A private family inurnment will take place in California at a later date.
Her survivors include: sister, Carrol Conner (Adron Abe) of Winfield; brother: Willis David “Bill” Collins (Ana Mae) of Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established in Dorothy’s name for the Alzheimer’s Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Survived by: his children, Christine Blaine, Wichita, Abraham Marteney, Seattle, Wash., Vincent Marteney, Alaska and Amy (John) Morgan, 111.; brothers, William (Dee) Marteney, Augusta, Tony (Diane) Marteney, Douglass; sisters, Elaine (Nick) Nick-elson, Grove, Okla., Sue Smith, Wichita and Peggy Noe, Nashville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Trevor Conmee Spencer, 77 of Cottonwood, Calif., passed away on Nov. 8, 2011.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Lake Club in Lake California, Cottonwood, Calif.
He had a long aviation career as an instructor and charter pilot.
Survivors include: his wife Karen; son, Kim Spencer of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; daughter, Lisa Spencer of Walnut Creek, Calif.; stepson, Stephen Spencer of Augusta; stepdaughter, Sarah Spencer of Cottonwood, Calif.; sister, Corinne Glover of Los Angeles, Calif.; brother, Ted and sister Denise both of South Africa; and seven grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations go to the Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue, P.O. Box 2210, Tehachapi, CA 93581.
