87. EL DORADO

Doris E. Cox, 87, El Dorado, passed away, Thursday, Dec. 29,2011.
Viewing 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Doris Cox Augusta.
Graveside service 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Sunset Lawns Cemetery, El Dorado.
Doris was born in Midian, Kan. on March 12,1924, to Virgil and Inna (Reeves) Bloir. She was a homemaker, gambler, golfer and bookeep-er. She was also a mem ber of the First United Methodist Church. In July of 1947 she married James R. Cox, Sr. in Dallas.
She is survived by: brother, Robert "Bob” Bloir of Gillette, Wyo.; children, James R. Cox, Jr. of Augusta, Steven Cox (Ame Holden) of Oceanside, Calif., Ava Walt (Howard "Bim") of Grain Valley, Mo., Dana L. Bell of El Dorado and Jeff Cox (Melanie) of Augusta; grandchildren, Gretchen Cox, Lainie Rawlings (Jarrod), James Bell, Nicholas Bell, Miranda Walt, Quentin Cox and Olivia Cox; great grandchildren, Katelyn and Gra-cyn Cox, Chase and Tripp Rawlings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter-in-law, Colleen.

Robert E. Harber
89, WICHITA

Robert E. Harber, 89, Wichita, passed away on Friday, Dec. 30, 2011.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with funeral service following at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Lakeview Funeral Home, Wichita.
Robert was born on Oct. 8,1922, in Redfield, Kan., to Clarence Lee and Lila Mae Quick Harber. He graduated If om Fort Scott High School and Fort Scott Junior College, then went to work for Martin Aircraft in Baltimore, Md. He was drafted in 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy for two years as a an aircraft mechanic. Here-turned to Kansas and attended the University of Wichita, where he received a degree in accounting in 1948 and
started a career with the Internal Revenue Service, working in both Wichita and Salina. In 1948, he married Dorothy Virginia Penn, also from Redfield. They raised three sons, Dale, Roger, and Brian.
Robert retired from the IRS in 1979 and became an avid golfer, and enjoyed traveling with Dorothy. In 1988 Dorothy passed away and in 1990, Robert married Violet Tomkins of Newton, and they moved to Newton. She passed away in 2007-Robert is survived by: sons, Dale, Roger, and Brian; a granddaughter and two grandsons; sisters, Lois Smith and Elizabeth Lundberg; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to first wife, Dorothy, and second wife, Violet, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother Russell, and his sister Ruth Christophersen.

Steve McAdoo
64, ELDORADO

Steve McAdoo, 64, died Dec. 29, 2011.
Services were held Monday, at the El Dorado First Christian Church.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked and retired as a supervisor at Valmont Industries in El Dorado.
Survivors: wife, Rhonda; sons, John (Christy) Stewart of El Dorado, Hoss (Rachael) Stewart of Augusta, Pat and Amy McAdoo of El Dorado; brother, Harold of Wichita: 13 grandchildren.
