Maxine C. Smith, 91 of ( Augusta, passed away Monday, April 02, 2012.
Graveside service 11 a.m.Thursday, April 5,2012, at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Maxine was born in Home City, Kan. on Sept. 5,1920, to the late Bessie (Day) and Charles Prigel. ! She was a homemaker > and also worked as a cook at Garfield Elementary. On Dec. 24,1943 she married William Smith in Alexandria, La. and he survives.
She is also survived by: daughter, Diane Higgs and husband David of Rexford, Mont.; grandchildren, Christopher (Caitlin) and Matthew Higgs.
Preceded in death by daughter, Karen Leigh Smith; brothers, Walter Prigel and Ernest Prigel; sister, Regina Reed. Donations to Amedisys Hospice 2733 W. Central El Dorado, KS 67042.

Betty Engel, 91, Rapid City, ND, and formerly of Augusta, passed away on March 25, 2012.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 7, at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
Betty worked at several Augusta downtown businesses and was a longtime member of the Augusta First Christian Church.
She is survived by: sons, Chip Engel of Rapid City, ND and James Engel of Los Angeles, Calif.; and granddaughter, Mattie of Rapid City, ND.
