Jennifer Jean Marr
33, WICHITA

On Wednesday, July 25, 2012, Jennifer Jean Marr daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away at home. Jennifer was born in Sedalia,
Missouri on December 31, 1978, to Pamela Lynn (Reese) and Douglas Duncan Marr. She resided in Wichita, KS and worked as a receptionist at Global Parts in Augusta. Jen's warm smile and spirit will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Doug and Pam of Augusta; a brother, Jacob Marr and wife Sherrel of Augusta; sisters, Hilary Kelso and husband Matt of Olathe; Christian Gifford and husband Mark of Kensington, MD; and Leslie Hess and husband Sam of Overland Park; her grandfather, Robert Reese of Laramie, WY; nieces, Samantha, Kathryn, Chelsi, Hayli, Brynli, and Catelyn; nephews, Grayson and Kaden; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her faithful friend, Gats-by the dog. She was welcomed home by her grandparents, John & Josephine Marr and Beverly Reese.
Visitation Sunday 4-6 pm at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Funeral service 10:00 am Monday, July 30, 2012, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 402 N. Topeka Wichita.
In celebration of Jennifer's love and gift for music as well as her love for animals, memorial donations may be made to Wichita State University Music Department or Kansas Humane Society of Wichita. Donation can be mailed in care of Headley Funeral Chapel 813 State St. Augusta, KS 67010.



Dick Scholfield
89, WICHITA

James Richard (Dick) Scholfield, age 89 passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Visitation with the family was Friday,
July 27th from 5 to 7p.m. at Downing Lahey Mortuary on East Central.
Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 28th at the First Baptist Church, Augusta. Graveside will be Private.
Dick was born in Fort Scott, KS on August 25, 1922. Dick met the love of his life, Virginia Cox and they were married on April 9,1948.
His many adventures included working at his brother’s hatchery, owning and running a potato chip plant in Winfield and of course a used car lot.
Dick was the founder and former owner of Scholfield Bros. Pontiac
and GMC in Wichita and before that in Augusta.
Besides spending time with Virginia, his children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, Dick loved fishing, golf, hunting, watching sports on TV, and lunch with friends.
Honors include an inductee of the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame, former Board Member of the Kansas Auto Dealers Association and of the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame.
Dick leaves behind loving family members, many fishing buddies and a long list of friends, co-work-ers, employees and customers.
Survivors: wife, Virginia; son, Jim of New York; daughter, Colleen (Dennis) Richardson of Derby; grandchildren, Kendall (Jarod) Goff of Overland Park, KS, Staci (Dan) Earley of Cameron, MO and David (Beth Anne) Dittmer of Derby, KS; six great-grandchildren; brother, Vic (Bea) Scholfield of Wichita; sisters, Elese Green, of Licking MO; and Martha Lou Michel of Atlanta GA.

El Dorado optometrist dies in accident

An El Dorado optometrist was killed Thursday afternoon when his bicycle was struck by a 1990 BuickLeSabre.
Dr. Roger Joyce was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
On Thursday, officers were dispatched to a fatality accident on US 54/77 just South of SW 80th Street in the southbound lane.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a passenger car had struck a bicycle that was southbound in the driving lane.
The passenger car struck the bicycle in the rear with the front right area of the car, causing the bicycle rider to hit the hood area and then windshield.
It appeared the bicycle rider was close to the outside shoulder of the roadway when he was struck.
Joyce, the bicycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the passenger car, John D. Reeves of Rose Hill and 3-year old passenger were not injured.
KHP worked the accident, which is still under investigation.
