Helen Loomis Dead At 70
Helen Loomis, 70, Augusta, died Tuesday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Her service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Downing and Lahey Mortuary. Dr. Walter Vernon will officiate.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
She was bom Jan. 19, 1912 in Crete, Neb., to John and Edna Worden Menke.
She married Lloyd Loomis. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Lloyd Loomis, Augusta; daughters, Arden Macy of Rockford, Ill., and Rebecca Quigley of Dallas; a brother, Francis Menke of Crete.

Brother Dies
Chester “Chet” Hodson, 73, Mulvane, brother of Helen Miller of Augusta, died Monday.
His service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Senter-Smith Mortuary in Mulvane.
Memorials have been established with the Kidney Foundation and the American Heart Association.
He was a retired maintenance man.
Other survivors include his wife, Evelyn Hodson of the home; a son, Richard Hodson of Topeka; daughters Doris Dim-mitt of Spokane, Wash., Barbara Means of Mulvane, Shirley Mick of Harrison, Ark.; brother, Richard Hodson of Bodfish, Calif.; sisters mildred Taylor of Albany, Mo., and Zelma Brucker of Ramona, Calif.

Father Dies In Salina
Lester H. Little, 86, Salina, father of Billie Little of Augusta, died Monday at a Salina hospital.
His service was at 2 p.m. today at the Ryan Mortuary in Salina. Rev. Elaine Lord officiated and burial was at the Mulberry Cemetery near Brookville.
Memorials have been established with the Brookville United Methodist Church and the Tescott ambulance fund.
He was bom June 17, 1895 near Tescott to William and Cecelia Giersch Little.
Other survivors include a daughter, Delores Walker of Brookville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild.

Ex-Augustan Dies At 60
Thomas L. Woolery, 60, Springfield, Mo., died there Feb. 2 after a short illness.
His services were Feb. 4 at the Ayre-Goodwin Funeral Home in Springfield.
He lived in Augusta before moving to Springfield. There he worked as a maintenance man for City Utilities.
Survivors include his wife, Alta Woolery, of the home; four sons, Stephen, Richard, Donald and James, all f Springfield; a daughter, Janet Sheffield of St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Ruby Lackey and Marie Lane, both of Augusta, and Betty Shirley of Ratcliff City, Okla., and two half-brothers, Jerry Mullins and Howard McCrory, both of Augusta.

LAWRENCE W. EWALT
Lawrence Woodrow Ewalt was born Nov. 5, 1916 at Atlanta, Kan. His parents were J.H. Ewalt and Mary Emma (Need) Ewalt.
He married Virginia Lee Dashner on July 3, 1947.
Mr. Ewalt died Feb. 7, 1982. He is survived by his wife and the following relatives, four children, Gregory Steven Ewalt of Vallejo, Calif., Rhonda Dee Ewalt of Wichita, Monty Lynn Ewalt and Scott Covington Ewalt, both of Augusta; a granddaughter, Michelle Diane Ewalt of Augusta; three brothers, J.W. “Bill” Ewalt of Hialeah, Fla., Ernest H. Ewalt and Walter S. Ewalt, both of Augusta; four sisters, Nona B. Howard, Emma J. Shafer and S. Venita Canfield, all of Augusta, and Leota M. Euler of Topeka.
He served with the U.S. Navy 84th Construction Battalion during World War II. His war medals included the Philippine Liberation Star, the Asiatic Pacific Star, and a World War II Victory Medal. Ewalt was in the Naval Reserve and called back to duty during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Elks Club.
Ewalt was affiliated with the Christ Lutheran Church.
Memorials to the Cancer Society and Christ Lutheran Church were suggested following his death.
Ewalt was a past member of the Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers, an independent oil producer and owner-operator of Ewalt Liquor Store in Augusta.
