Dora Baker dies at 97
Dora E. Baker, 97, Augusta, died Sunday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Frank Miller will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born July 19, 1887 in Kansas. She married Vess Baker June 19, 1942 in El Dorado. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Survivors include a stepson, Lawlison Baker of Augusta; stepdaughters, Marian Watkins of Fredonia, Eva Powell of Augusta and Euphratis Hopper of Warm Springs, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Margaret Hoge dies at 82
Margaret Hoge, 82, Derby, mother of Herman Hoge of Augusta, died this morning at the Augusta Medical Center.
Services are pending for Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Derby. Senter-Smith Mortuary in Derby is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors also include two other sons, Ralph and James, both of Wichita; a daughter, Dorothy Mayne of Alma, Mich.; a sister, Nettie Brown of Rushville, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Paul Elder dies at 75
Paul Walter Elder, 75, 235 State, died today at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His service will be at 10 a.m.
Thursday at Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Frank Miller will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 29, 1908 in Shattuck, Okla., to Walter and Maude Murphy Elder.
He married Mabel Burris Dec. 3, 1928 in El Dorado, She survives.
He was a former Boeing Military Aircraft Co. employee and a former Wichita Eagle-Beacon delivery person. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Other survivors include a son,
Richard of Wichita; a brother,
Ora of Tonkawa, Okla.; grandsons, Tony of Bossier City, La. and Terry of Lenexa; two great-granddaughters and a great-grandson. A son, Paul, preceded him in death.
Rites tomorrow for M.L. Hoge
Funeral services for Margaret L. Hoge, 82, Augusta who died Monday at the Augusta Medical Center will be tomorrow at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Derby.
The rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at the church. Father Paul Coakley and Father Arthur Busch will officiate.
She was born Sept. 23, 1901 in Indianola, Neb., to Sturmius Charles and Mary Elizabeth Kircher Brahler.
She married Herman Victor Hoge Nov. 18, 1925 in Elwood, Neb. He preceded her in death Nov. 7, 1981. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
Other survivors include sons, Herman of Augusta, Ralph and James, both of Wichita; a daughter, Dorothy Mayne of Alma, Mich.; a sister, Nettie Brown of Rushville, Neb., 11 grandchildren, and 16 grandchildren.
Tony Kurban dies at 67
John “Tony” Kurban, 67, Wichita, son of Roy D. Kurban of Augusta, died Sunday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wichita.
His service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Culbertson-Smith Mortuary in Wichita. Father John Landzrath will officiate and burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery there.
He was born Feb. 26, 1917 in St. Louis, Mo., to Roy D. and Catherine Marie Goodman Kurban.
He was a retired self-employed electrician. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Other survivors include a daughter, Georgie Jaeger of Fort Worth, Texas; brothers, James of Lakeview, Mo., Cecil of Kansas City, Mo., Robert of Arlington, Texas; sisters, Patricia Adams of Wichita, Ruth Hundemer of Riverside, Texas, Margie Gebhard of Pittsburg, Calif., Teresa Pugh of Salina, Calif., and a grandchild.
