88. AUGUSTA
Rosemary (Carter) Whittaker, 88, homemaker, passed away, Tuesday, Aug.28, 2012, at Cottonwood Point of Augusta.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Rosemary Was bom Jan. 14, 1924, in Bridgeport, 111. to Charles Edward and Gladys Marie (Burns) Carter. She graduated from Bridgeport High School and married Donald Lee Whittaker on Nov. 30, 1946, also in Bridgeport. To this union they had three children; Randall, Rebecca, and Sarah. Donald and Rosemary loved to travel and Rosemary was active in many church choirs and altar societies at several Catholic churches in the many places they resided.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald of almost 64 years; her two sisters, Patricia Cunningham and Elaine Wright.
Survivors include: her son and his wife, Randall and Regna Whittaker of Augusta; two daughters and their husbands, Rebecca and Steve Enzinger of Corpus Christi, Texas and Sarah and David Malzewski of Brookfield, Wis.; two grandsons, Samuel and Trevor Malzewski, both of Brookfield, Wis.; many nieces and nephews throughout the country.

Alpha Jean Mahlandt, age 81, homemaker of Rose Hill, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Sunday, and 1-6 p.m. Monday, with family present 4-6 p.m., Monday, Smith Mortuary, Derby. Funeral service 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, Christ Lutheran Church, Augusta.
She is preceded in death-by her husband, Vem; parents, Lloyd and Bertha Mae Duvall; daughter, Pamela McCoy; brother, Travis; granddaughter, Jennifer Keiter; and daughter-in-law, Catherine Beer Mahlandt.
Survivors: son, Kerry, Rose Hill; daughters, Joyce (Darrell) Cook, Bur-
den, Judy (Kenn) Wealand, Cedar Point, Terrie (Bob) Gould, Douglass, Gay Mahlandt, Rose Hill; sisters, Alta Dene Hogan, Sun Ray, Texas, and Shirley Roberts, Canyon, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.

Harriett M. Smith, 88, of Augusta, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012 in Belton, Mo., having moved to the Kansas City area a year ago.
Visitation 5-7 p.m. Thursday, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta; graveside service 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta. Those attending should use the 12th Street entrance.
Harriett was born in Neodesha, Kan. on Nov. 27,1923, to the late Gladys (Ballard) and Oburn Ioe Bryan. She had worked as a nurse’s aide at Walnut Valley Manor and was a homemaker. In 1943 she married Lee Elliott in Newton. On May 23, 2001 she married Harvey Smith in Augusta. They both preceded her in death. Brothers, Robert, Charles and "Keck" Bryan also preceded her.
She is survived hy: stepsons, Gary, Tim and Roger Smith; stepdaughters, Twila Peterson and Tammy Moeller; sister- in- law Irma Bryan of Augusta; first cousins, Roberta January, of Raymore, Mo., and Ruby Kirk, of Neodesha; several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Beverly Mitsch passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 at her home in San Jose, Calif. Funeral mass 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Mitsch Saint Christopher Church, San Jose, Calif.
Beverly was born in San Francisco to Vernon Archer Kemmerrer and Thelma Catherine Kemmerrer (Roberts) on Oct. 1, 1922. Bev graduated from Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, Calif, and married Paul Francis Mitsch, Jr. on Dec. 19, 1941. Beverly joined her husband Paul who had preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1989 (23 years ago, to the day).
Beverly is survived by: her three children, Bonnie Ehle (Robert) of San Jose, Calif., Paul Mitsch (Suzanne) of Wichita, and Michael Mitsch (Sherry) ofMuncie, Ind.; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
