Gary Hickerson
62, Al/GUSTA, KAN.
Gary W. Hickerson, 62, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012, at his home in Augusta.
He was born July 19, 1950, to George B. and Ol-lie Hickerson.
Gary was divorced, having one child, Susan, with Lawanda Michael, and upon his death was living with a roommate, Tammy Martin.
Gary served in the United States Air Force for 4 years, spending half of that time in Europe as a radio operator for military intelligence. He worked for Santa FfeRailroad forT5 years as^ a track layer, and for the Wichita Eagle as a paper carrier from 1990 to 2004. He coached in the Augusta Girls Softball League from 1987through 1994 and also ran the concession stand for the league for a number of years. In his early adulthood, he could be found either at the bowling alley or the lake trying to catch "the big one". Gaiy is survived by his daughter, Susan Hardeman and her husband, Ronald of Wichita; two brothers, Robert Hickerson of Nixa, Missouri and his daughters' Katie, Holly, and Heather; Don Hickerson of Jacksonville, Florida and his son Paul; uncle, Jim Linder of Leon and several cousins.
A memorial service was held on December 24th, by family and friends at a private residence in Leon.
In Lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Gary Hickerson memorial fund in care of the funeral home.
Annabelle Howard
91, ANDOVER, KAN.
Annabelle Howard, 91, of Andover, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012. Memorial service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Andover United Methodist Church, Andover, KS.
Burial will follow at Andover Cemetery. Annabelle was born in Climax, KS on December 1,1921, to the late Nellie Faye (Walford) and John David Essick.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James. O. Howard; par-ents, John and Nellie Essick; sisters, Maiy Sanderson, Louise Kleysteuber, Helen Ketterman, and Gertrude Buckle. Annabelle retired as a teller at Andover State Bank. She also worked as a court clerk, for her husband.
On April 9,1939 at El Dorado, KS she married James Howard. She is survived by: daughter, Pat Cummings of Augusta; daughter, Donna Skinner of Derby, KS; son, James Howard and wife Karen of Garden City, KS; sister, Georgia Taylor and husband Howard of Wichita; grandchildren Leann Boucher, of Augusta, Kelly Shelton (Charles), of Wichita, Becky Cryderman (Paul), of Augusta, Jamie Cummings (Ones Mutinda), of Andover, Deanna Schwarz, of Wichita, Darin Dahl, of Rose Hill, Dan Howard (Karen), of Lexington, KY, Bryan Howard, of Pea Ridge, AK.
Sixteen great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren.
Memorialdonations may be made to Andover Senior Center or Andover United Methodist Church.
