James "Jim" Davis
80, AUGUSTA

James "Jim" Abner Davis, 80, of Augusta, passed away, day, Jan. 22, 2013.
Visitation will b held from 5-7 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 24, at Davis Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, at the Augusta First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Walnut Valley Cemetery in El Dorado.
Jim was born Sept. 21, 1932, to Fred Phillip and Beulah Alice (Travers) Davis in Mt. Vernon, Ind.
He graduated high school in Mt. Vernon and served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy. Jim married Shirley LaJune Wilson on June 15,1958, in Augusta. He retired from Cessna Aircraft with the sheet metal assembly department after 39 1/2 years. Jim was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge # 74 AF & AM, the Wichita Consistory as a 32 degree mason and the Augusta Eastern Star #211.
His survivors include: his wife Shirley of the home; son and his wife, Brian and Tammy Davis; grandson, Jeron Davis and granddaughter, Lindsey Davis, all of Augusta; niece, Kathy A. Davis of Satellite Beach, Fla.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fred Davis, Jr., and a sister, Wanda Davis.
A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church, 2420 Ohio, Augusta, KS 67010, or in care of the funeral home.

84, AUGUSTA

Marie L. Carver, 84, of Augusta, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 in Andover.
Visitation 6-8 p.m.Friday, at Headley Funeral Chapel and service 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Church of Christ, Augusta. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita.
Marie was born in Rosehill, on Nov. 18, 1928, to the late Gladys (Williams) and John Bird. She was a homemaker and retired as a repair clerk at Southwestern Bell after 15 years. On March 18,1961 in Wichita she married Orville C. Carver, who survives her.
She is also survived by: son, Greg Carver (Susan); daughter, Vicki Smith (Craig); brother, Gerald (Sharon) Bird; grandchildren, Casey, Abbie, Cody, and Shea; numerous ne-ices and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, and brother, Lee "Bud" Bird.
Memorial donations to Carpenter Place.
