98, OMAHA, NEB.

John L. Penney, 98, of Omaha, Neb., and formerly of Augusta, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Ralston United Church of Christ, 7638 Maywood Street, Ralston, Neb.
John was a veteran of World War II and a 40-year career in education (teacher, administrator, counselor and coach) in schools in Nebraska and
Kansas. Part of his long career in education was spent in the Augusta school system.
Preceded in death by wife of 70 years, Ella Biere Penney; parents, Clyde and Edith Omer Penney; brothers, Lee, Norman, and Donald; sisters, Louise Larsen and Shirley Baker.
Survived by: sons, Tom (Starr) Penney, Omaha, and Michael Penney, Pa-pillion; grandchildren, Nathan (Analia) Penney, Tampa, Fla., Joseph Penney, Wichita, Andrea (Mark) Karpf, Omaha, and Emily (Paul) Belacera, Overland Park, great grandchildren, Preston, Adriana, Harrison, and Thomas.

Lawrence E. Marlow, 77, of Augusta, died January 27, 2013
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at Haven/Priest Cemetary, Haven with military rites conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Kenneth Brooks
71. AUGUSTA

Kenneth Dwane Brooks, 71 of Augusta, passed away, Saturday, February 2, 2013. Kenny was born July 26,1941, to Leonard Francis and Ina ”Vee” Veetta (Brumley) Brooks in Norwich, Kansas.
For many years Kenny was an over-the-road truck driver and prior to retirement became a night maintenance supervisor for Wal-Mart in Augusta. Kenny loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and watching sports.
He is survived by his son, Troy Brooks of El Dorado, Kansas; daughters, Trade (Karl) Mathias of Stafford, Virginia, Tammy (Brian) Davis and Tiffany (Randy) Johnson all of Augusta; sisters, Betty Gustin of Aquila, Arizona and Sharon Brewer of Garden City, Kansas and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tony Brooks; brothers, James and Audie Brooks and a sister, Yvonne Kilgore.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 9, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene.

Byron Ray 'Barney’ Baker
32, WICHITA

Byron Ray ’’Barney” Baker, IV, 32, loving son, brother and friend, passed away, Saturday, February 2, 2013. Byron was born June 13, 1980, to Byron Ray and Donna Jo (Stone) Baker, III in Wichita, Kansas.
He received the rank of Eagle Scout and graduated from Augusta High School in 1998. He then attended Kansas State University for four years.
Barney had his own website design company byronbakerdesign.LLC in Wichita. Barney is survived by his parents Byron ’Barney" and Donna Baker of Augusta; a sister Annie J. Baker also of Augusta.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Byron and Marjorie Baker, Jr.; maternal grandparents, JoAnn McNelly and Don Stone.
Viewing will be held Thursday, February 7, from 1-5 p.m. with the family greeting friends during visitation from 5-6 p.m.
Funeral service will be held Friday, February 8, at 1:00 p.m. all at Dunsford Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta. A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
