Keck Bryan dies, funeral Wednesday
Kesner M. “Keck” Bryan, 63, 666 Santa Fe, a veteran city councilman, died at his home Saturday.
His service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel here. Rev. Gaylen Burow of Christ Lutheran Church will officiate and burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established at the Prairie State Bank in Bryan's name to financially aid other cancer victims in the Augusta community.
He was born Jan. 14, 1921 in Neodesha to Gladys and O.I. Bryan.
When he was seven, his family moved to Augusta where he lived until his death.
He married Erma Lipscomb on Sept. 5, 1941. She survives.
He served in the military from 1941 to 1945.
After the service he returned to Augusta and worked 39 years at the Mobil Oil refinery before retiring in 1980. He also owned and operated K.M. Ditching Service of Augusta.
Bryan was a member of the Augusta City Council from 1960 to 1964 and then from 1975 until he recently resigned because of ill health.
He was a member of the Lions Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.
Besides his wife, Bryan leaves a son, James Ronald Bryan; a daughter, Connie Helmer; two brothers, Bob Bryan of Bellingham, Wash., Charles Bryan; a sister, Harriett Elliot, all of Augusta, and three grandchildren, Todd Bryan, Danny and Dana Helmer.

William Todd Jr. dies at AMCI
William Allen Todd Jr., 61, 1502 Dearborn, died Sunday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Pastor Gaylen Burow of Christ Lutheran Church will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 14, 1923 in Little Rock, Ark., to William A. and Lela Pearl Griffin Todd Sr.
He married Ruth Wagner in Little Rock March 9, 1947. She survives.
He was a retired Boeing Military Aircraft Co., employee where he worked in experimental engineering.
He served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church.
Other survivors include a son, John A. Touhey of Clearwater; daughters, Gail Fain of Wichita and Cheryl Peters of Emporia, and six grandchildren.

Infant dies
this morning
Rachel Ashly Wentz, infant daughter of David and Bethel Wentz of Augusta, died this morning at Wesley Medical Center.
Services are pending at the Dunsford Funeral Home.
She was born Sept. 23 in Wichita.
Besides her parents, she leaves her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wentz of Augusta and Dorothy Reed and James Reed, both of Indianapolis, Ind.
Cyclist dies
in accident
Jeffrey M. Madden, 14, an athlete and honor student at Rose Hill Middle School, died Saturday when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck at a rural Sedgwick County intersection.
Services were at 10 a.m. today at the Cochran Mortuary in Wichita.
A memorial has been established with St. Paul's United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
Survivors include his mother, Patricia Madden Beran and his stepfather, Kenneth Beran of Derby; his father and stepmother, Allen and Nancy Roberts of Hays; a brother, Brock Beran of Derby; sisters, Kristin Madden Roberts, Brianna Beran and Danielle Beran, all of Derby; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Madden of Dodge City, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beran of Victor, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Roberts of Damar and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Topper of Dodge City.
