74, AUGUSTA

Geraldine “Jerry”Kaps 74, of Augusta, Ks. passed away Sunday,Aug. 11, 2013.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug.14; service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug.15, 2013, both at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.
Jerry worked at GMAC and retired as a Commercial Loan Officer at KSBT.
She was preceded in death by: her husband Dick Kaps; father. Lafe R. Q. Pearce; mother, Mildred Beatrice Pearce; and daughter, Mary Kaps Smith.
Survivors are: sisters, Darlene Murphy, Fayetteville Ark., and Betty (John) Ross of Siloam Springs Ark.; children, Gary Fife (Joni) of Farmington, Ark., Bobby Fife (Rita) of Wichita, Joseph Kaps (Kelly) of Wichita, Tony Kaps, Enid, Okla., Anne Kaps (Mike Stranko) Kansas City, Mo., Linda (Kaps) (Brett) Newcomer of Lake Forest, Calif., Kathy (Kaps) (Steve) McDan-nald, Valley Center, and Sharon (Kaps) (Bobby) Scroggins of Colwich; 19 grandchildren; 6 greatgrandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Augusta Community Caring Center for relief services.

Louis‘Bob’Jackson
87, EL DORADO

Louis S. “Bob” Jackson Jr., 87, stepped into eternity on Aug.9, 2013.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug.14, at the First Christian Church in El Dorado.
He was born in Perris, Calif, on Dec. 5,1925.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 at age of 17, so he could serve his country as his brothers were doing. He was a gunner’s mate on the USS Minneapolis and fought in the Pacific theater in World War II. Upon discharge from the Navy in 1945, he came to Chelsea, Kan., where his parents had purchased a homestead. He and his brothers joined them in farming and ranching.
In August 1946, he obtained title of "Colonel” from the American school of auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa. He started his career at the Sale Barn on Jones St. in El Dorado, and soon was operating his own auctions.
He married Verla L. Davis on Sept 18,1949 in El Dorado. They were devoted to one another for more than 64 years. They lived in the Chelsea area until 1978 when they moved to El Dorado. They worked side by side in the Jackson Auction and Real Estate business. He was a realtor from 1969 until retirement.
In retirement he stayed active in ranching and auctioneering, which included his guest appearance on the opening day of the new El Dorado Livestock Auction Barn. He was honored to be asked to sell the first ring of cattle that day, and thoroughly enjoyed the moment. Little did he know that he would finish his auction career at the same place he started.
His survivors include: his wife Verla L. (Davis); children, Marilyn McEl-roy (Earl) of Wichita, Casey Jackson of El Dorado, and Shelley Lauber (Rick) of Iola; grandchildren, Dette (McEl-roy) Longman of Westminster, Colo., Chris McElroy of Ttilsa, Okla., McKayla (Miller) Haskins of Olathe, Cameron Miller of Overland Park, Kiesha (Lauber)Richen-burg of St. Paul, Kan., and Alicia (Lauber) Has-selby of Overland Park;
12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death his parents, Louis S. Jackson Sr. and Olga M.(Smith); brothers, James C. Jackson and Joseph C. Jackson; sister, Helen C. Evans.
Memorials may be given to the Chelsea Volunteer Fire Dept or the American Heart Association.

Josephine Wimberly
88, ANDOVER

Josephine "Jo” Wimberly, 88, Andover, died on Friday, Aug. 9,2013, at Victoria Nursing Center in Andover.
A celebration of her life will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug.13, at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Interment will follow the services in Towanda Cemetery.
Jo was born on Aug. 18, 1924 in Augusta, the daughter of Lester and Pauline Van Middlesworth Markley. She graduated from Augusta High School and received her AA from Butler Co. Junior College. On June 2,1946, she was married at Cumberland Community Church to Lemoine Wimberly. He preceded her in death.
Jo was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in El Dorado. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Susan B. Allen Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, oil painting, making jewelry, and gardening.
She leaves: her daughters and their husbands Gayla and Hillard Goldsmith, Augusta, Carol Waltman, Andover, Jamie Griggs and Bob Gates, Wichita, Karma and Gary Starkel, El Dorado; brothers and their wives, John and Martha Markley, California, and Jerry and Sally Markley, Ohio; sister, Alice Winzer, Augusta; sis-ter-in-law, Laura Jean Weber, Newton; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Jo was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lowell Marley; and son-in-law, Richard Waltman.
