Charlotte Hatter
60, AUGUSTA

Charlotte Hatter, 60, of El Dorado, passed away Friday, Aug.16, 2013.
Visitation Mon day 5-7 p.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel and graveside 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Charlotte was bom in Artesia, NM on June 3, 1953, to the late Ruth Aleen (Bolden) and J.D. Hatter.
She is survived by: brothers, Jim Hatter of Leon and Sammy Hatter of Tulsa, Okla.; sisters, Lila Hagebusch and husband Charles of Augusta, Jaydena Church and husband Bob of Augusta, and Sherry Martin of Claremore, Okla.; 11 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Jerry Hatter and Regina Duggins.
Memorial donations may be made to the Special Olympics.



Memorial for Michael Harlan
The family of Michael Harlan, who passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, will host a memorial gathering from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24,2013, at Shryock Park, east side of the Augusta City Lake.
Friends and family are invited.

Richard Mikish
75. AUGUSTA

Richard A. Mikish, 75, Augusta, passed away on Thursday, Aug.15,2013.
Viewing will be from 1-8 p.m., with family present to Mikish greet
friends from 5:30 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at the Augusta First Baptist Church, 1501 State St.
He was bom Nov. 25, 1937, to Adolph and Alene Lenore (Mashburn) Mikish in Shawnee, Okla. Richard graduated from Shawnee High School and obtained a degree in geology from Oklahoma State University. He worked for the Skelly/Frontier Refinery in El Dorado, retiring after 35 years of service. Richard married his childhood sweetheart Carolyn Skelton on Jan. 25,1957, in Shawnee, Okla, and they enjoyed 56+ years of marriage.
Richard and Carolyn were blessed with two daughters Melynnie and Cathy. Richard loved to hunt, fish and play golf and was an avid WSU basketball fan attending the games until his health failed him. He was also an active member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Augusta since they moved to Augusta in 1961.
Richard leaves to mourn his passing: his loving wife, Carolyn of the home; daughters, Melynnie (Tom) Williams of Newton, and Cathy Ryan of Andover; brothers, Donnie (Barbara) Mikish of Shawnee, Okla., and Gary (Melissa) Mikish of Sapulpa, Okla.; grandchildren, Zach, Chelsea, Caitlyn and Chandler; and four great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial has been established with the First Southern Baptist Church, 2206 North Ohio, Augusta, KS 67010, or in care of the funeral home.



Jim Burns
81, AUGUSTA

Jim Burns, 81, of Augusta, passed away Monday, Aug.19, 2013.
Visitation 6-8 p.m.Thursday, Aug. 22, at Headley Funeral Chapel. Service 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at the First Southern Baptist Church, Augusta.
Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Jim was born in Winfield, Kan. on Sept. 13, 1931, to the late Charlotte (Counter) and Clarence Burns. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Navy serving on the battleship, USS New Jersey, during the Korean War. Jim owned Burns Drain and Sewer Cleaning in Augusta and he retired from Wichita State University in 1994. He also was the City of Augusta Water Superintendent for many years. Jim was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Augusta, where he served as a deacon. On April 24,1950 he married Mary Ann (Gilliland) Bums who survives him.
He is also survived by: his children, Kathy Hall and husband Jim, Barbara Cardwell and husband Mike, Connie Montgomery, Patty Apel and husband Doug, John Burns and wife Denise, Rick Burns and wife Renee, Debbie Taylor and husband Kevin, and Cindy Cummings and husband Jim; brother, Gary Burns and wife Margie; 21 grandchildren; 37 great -grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents; step father, Wendal Rader; twin brothers, Johnny Burns and Jack Burns; sister, Judy Shelton.
