Bertha Anders
82, GONZALES, LA.

Bertha Louise Anders, 82, of Gonzales La., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29,
2013, at the Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at the Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge, Kan.
Bertha was born Feb. 6, in Abilene, Kan. and was raised by her wonderful parents, Sydney and Dolly Hillier, in the small town of Cambridge, Kan. Bertha graduated from Cambridge High School in 1949 and then attended William Newton Memorial School of Nursing, graduating in 1952.
She married Donald Anders on May 5,1955. They lived in Winfield where they raised their four children. While living in Winfield, Bertha worked as a surgical nurse at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center, William Newton Memorial Hospital and Snyder Clinic.
In 1987, Donald and Bertha moved to Gonzales, La. Bertha worked and retired from Ascension Hospital. Following the death of Donald in 1996 and trips abroad, she returned to work with Dr. Leya Matthew, retiring again in 2011, at the age of 80.
Despite her diagnosis of breast cancer in 2011, she remained active in social groups such as Young at Heart, Red Hat Ladies and played Po-keno. She was an active member of the Gonzales United Methodist Church.
She is survived by: four children, Tim Anders (Kathy) of Lafayette, Colo., Lisa Mills (Greg) of Texas City, Texas, Darren Anders and Marcie Cornejo of Gonzales, La.; eight grandchildren, Taran, Megan, and Sara Cornejo, and Morgan Anders of Gonzales, La., Mickela, Shaina and Matt Anders of Lafayette, Colo., and Tyson and Josh Mills of Texas City; her
brother, Armand Hillier (Barbara) of Augusta; nephew, Curtis Hillier (Ashley) Round Rock, Texas; niece: Jennifer Found (Shawn) of Hopewell, NJ; and half brother, Melvin Hillier (Barbara) of Bella Vista Ark.
Bertha was preceded in death by her loving husband, Don, and her parents, Sidney and Dolly Hillier.
In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to The First Presbyterian Church of Cambridge, Kan., and The First United Methodist Church of Gonzales, La.

Cole Patrick Scott
INFANT, WALNUT, KAN.

Cole Patrick Scott, infant son of Cory Scott and Jamie Kirkpatrick, of Walnut, Kan. died on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
Family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday; funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30,2013, both at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in St. Paul.
In addition to his parents, survivors include: half-brother, Hunter Scott of Shaw, Kan.; maternal grandparents, Tom and Marla Kirkpatrick of Erie; paternal grandparents, Jamie Brannan of Augusta, and Lynn Scott of Erie; paternal great-grandparents, Jim and Willie Cook of Augusta, Gilbert and Ethel Scott of Winfield, and Patricia Riffe of McMinnville, Tenn.; numerous aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Pat and LaDonna Bom and Earl and Marie Kirkpatrick.
