71, AUGUSTA
Larry Train, 71, of Augusta, passed away Sunday, Aug.25, 2013.
Viewing 1-8 p.m., with family to greet friends 6-8 p.m., on Wednesday, at
Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Service 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Larry was born in McPherson, Kan. on March 2,1942, to the late Ruth Catherine (Tucker) and Kermit LeRoy Train. He retired as the owner of Augusta Tire and Auto after 41 years. He was also the former owner of Butler County Tire and Midway Auto Service. Larry was a member of Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge and Midian Shrine. He was a big supporter of Butler County 4-H.
On March 1,1963 he married Shirley (McCormick) in Wichita, who survives him. He is also survived by: sons, Craig Train, and Jeremy Train and his fiance Cindy Pletcher, all of Augusta; brother, Dennis Train of Andover; sisters, Kerma Karoly and husband John of Chicago, ILL., and Marilynn Drescher and husband Don of Hollywood, Fla.; brother in law, Stan Cook of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brek Train and wife Brooke, Heath Train and Kylie Train; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Cook.
Memorial donations to Amedisys Hospice.

88. NEWTON
F. Maxine (Manion) Watkins, 88, died on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 at her daughters’ home in Augusta.
Funeral service will be at 11a.m. on Friday, Aug.30, 2013, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
She was bom on March 15, 1925 to Clara ( Rieschman ) and John F. Manion in Merriam, Kan.
On Sept.5, 1942 she married James Watkins in South Park, Kan. James passed away on Nov. 8, 1997.
Maxine had many hobbies including, reading, a strong love for music and she played several instruments. Her strongest love was spending time with her grandchildren . Maxine loved her family dearly.
She was active in the Order of The Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in the Newton and Marion chapters, as well a Grand Representative for the Grand Chapter of Kansas on two different occasions.
As a youth she attended the Methodist Church and was a former member of several First Christian Churches and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse; two brothers, Harold and Howard Manion; and infant sister, Shirley Mae Manion.
Survivors include: three children, Joanne (Chuck) Carpenter, Maidens, Va„ Stephen Watkins, Newton, and Jeri (Dan) Biehler, Augusta; 5 grandchildren, James (Akemi) Carpenter, Puyallup, Wash., John (Christine) Carpenter, Thornton, NH, Terri Carpenter, North Chesterfield, Va., J.D. Biehler and Francie Biehler, Augusta; 5 greatgrandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter.
