A. Pharr Jones dies at 75
A. Pharr Jones, 75, El Dorado, bother-in-law of Lillian Stevenson and Edith Hill, both of Augusta, died Saturday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His services were at 2 p.m. today at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Burial was in the Towanda Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
He was an employee of the Skelly Oil Co. for 42 years. Before his retirement in 1969, he was accounting supervisor at the company’s office in Tulsa, Okla.
Other survivors include his wife, Rose of the home; a son, Edward Jones of Tulsa; a daughter, Judith Anne Wygle of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; a sister, Maxon Edgecomb of New Iberia, La., four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Sister dies in Newton
Nina Mae Kochenower, 61, Newton, sister of Ethel Burkhart of Augusta, died Tuesday at Bethel Hospital there.
Her service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Peterson Funeral Home in Newton. Rev. William Scott will officiate and burial will be in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory there.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
She was born Sept. 30, 1923 in Newton William and Maggie Libhart.
She married Harold B. Kochenower April 12, 1940 in Peabody. He survives.
She was a homemaker.
Other survivors include sons, Daniel, Harold B. Jr., both of Newton; daughters, Sheila Ratzlaff, Joyce Jones, both of Newton, Judy Schmidt of Lehigh; a brother, William Libhart of Newton; another sister, Gladys Koeneman of Wichita,

Mother dies in Emporia
Maggie Jackson, 87, Eskridge, mother of Kenneth Short of Augusta, died Wednesday at an Emporia hospital.
Her service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Rev. Lee Wiersma will officiate and burial will be in the Haworth Cemetery near Emporia.
A memorial has been established with the Wabaunsee
County Unit of the American Heart Association.
She was born June 29, 1897 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Thomas and Mary Markley Murphy.
Other survivors include her husband, Pearl; sons, Bill Short of Elmdale, Clayton Short of
Cameron, Texas, Morris Short of Andover, Richart Short of Paxico; a daughter, Helen Strome of Herington; a stepson, Joe of Manhattan; stepdaughters, Ethel Kahle of Manhattan, Bonnie Cook of Inola, Okla.; half sisters, Lula Kennison of Topeka, Gladys
Zink of Emporia, Mildred Nielson of New Strawn; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren, and 17 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Ex-Douglass woman dies
Florence B. Whitley, 90, Anderson, Ind., formerly of Douglass, died there Saturday.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Douglass Cemetery.
She was born April 8, 1894 in Wyanet, Ill.
She married Dr. Grover G. Whitley. He was a medical doctor in Douglass. He preceded her in death.
She moved to Anderson from Douglass in 1968.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Harris of Anderson; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Helena Brandt dies at 84
Helena Brandt, 82, 104 E. Lakecrest, died Saturday at her home.
Her service will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the First Christian Church and the Augusta Public Library.
She was born Aug. 19, 1902 in Leon to Joe and Minnie Erwin Butts.
She married Dr. Paul B. Brandt Oct. 23, 1923 in El Dorado. He preceded her in death in 1961.
She was a sales clerk at the Calvert’s Department Store.
Mrs. Brandt was a member of the First Christian Church, Soroptimist International, Order of the Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Survivors include sons, Dolan of Augusta and Kermit of Miami, Fla.; brothers, Joe Butts of Federal Way, Wash., and Allen Butts of Miami, Fla.; sisters, Virginia Lowderman and Grace Blair, both of Wichita, and four grandchildren, Douglas and Duke of Augusta, Julie Cummins of Augusta and Galen of Salina.
