Mary J. Coffey, 79

Mary June Coffey, 79, Augusta, passed away Monday, Oct. 6, 2014.
Visitation 1-8 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 10; funeral service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, 11,2014, both at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby.
June is preceded in death by her husband Don, and a son Kendall.
Survivors include: a son, Randall (Kim) Coffey, of Wichita; sisters, Barbara Dunnegan, Caroline Mork, Marion O’Connell, and Lana Allen, all of Iowa; a brother, Ed Johnson, also of Iowa; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Diane L. Beals, 60

Diane L. (Downs) Beals, 60, Augusta, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014.
Viewing from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, at Headley Funeral Chapel. Funeral mass at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct.
10, 2014, at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Diane was born in North Adams, Mass, on Nov. 15,1953, to Angelina M. (Segala) and the late Melwood Roy Downs. She worked as a bookkeeper for RV Specialists and for Seeber Manufacturing. On Jan. 23, 1971, she married Francis E. Beals Jr. in Adams, Mass., who survives her.
She is also survived by: her mother, Angelina Downs of Coldspring, Texas; daughter, Kellie Ann Shipman of Augusta; son, Francis E. "Frank" Beals, III and wife Juana of Chula Vista, Calif.; sister, Juanita White and husband Leon, Sr.; grandchildren, Courtney and Samantha Shipman and Jarod Beals; sisters-in-law, Cirena LeMaire (Bruce) and Theresa Wheeler (Bill), all of North Adams, Mass.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister Frances Marie Downs; brother-in-law William D. Beals; son-in-law Jason Shipman.

Anita Mattix, 66

Anita Mattix, 66, of Augusta, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014.
Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10; funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, both at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.
Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery,
Augusta. A reception will be at the farm on Hopkins Switch Rd. following the graveside.
Anita was born on Oct. 12,1947 in Wichita, to the late Helen (Bernhardt) Schick Westbrook Turner and Alvin Schick. She was the owner of the County Journal and worked as a teller for the White Eagle Credit Union, and a pharmacy tech at Cooper Drug. She never met a stranger and always enjoyed a cup of coffee with anyone that came through their backdoor. She always had time for good conversation. Anita was a cancer survivor. On Jan. 10,1966 she married the love of her life, Jeffery C. Mattix. He preceded her in death in 2012.
She is survived by: daughter, Shannon Mattix and fiance, Jerry Shoemaker; son, Aaron Mattix, both of Wichita; grandchildren Levi Davidson (Corina), Kyle Davidson (girlfriend, Heather Ban-wart) and Madeline Mattix; brother in law, Jon Mattix (Barbara); Odie and Baxter the farm dogs; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
