7th grader rites Tuesday
Rodney Dale Wheeler, 12, Route 3, died Saturday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Southern Baptist Church. Rev. Oscar Moore and Rev. George Goudie will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Asthmatic Foundation. Donations may be made through Augusta Bank & Trust or East Side Bank of Wichita.
He was born Feb. 15, 1972 in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Arthur Dale and Sherrilyn Faye Loflin Wheeler.
He was a seventh grader at Augusta Junior High School.
Survivors include his parents, Sherrilyn and Dale Wheeler of Augusta; a brother, Darren Wayne of the home; a sister, Dayna Carol of the home; grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Leonard L. Wheeler of Claremore, Okla., and Carrol and Faye Loflin of Colorado Springs, Colo., and his great-grandmother, Ida Mae Roachelle of Colorado Springs.
The Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
JACOB GRIFFITH . . .died in Wichita
Third grader died Saturday
Jacob Scott Griffith, 9, 1144 Ohio, died Saturday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. Ray Gilstrap will officiate and burial will be in the Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
A memorial has been established with the Kansas Society for Crippled Children.
He was born Oct. 13, 1975 in Wichita to Ronald D. and Jeanette Fairbanks Griffith.
He was a third grader at Garfield Elementary School.
Survivors include his mother, Jan Griffith of Augusta; father, Ronald Griffith of Phoenix, Ariz.,; brother, Reginald, and sisters, Joy, Ashley, all of Augusta; grandparents, Donald and Rema Fairbanks, Betty Griffith, all of Wichita, and a great-grandfather, Ben David Fairbanks of Norton.
Robert J. Bowman dies in Wichita
Robert J. Bowman, 54, 1620 Cron, died Friday at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Amos Williams and Rev. Frank Miller of the Nazarene church will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born March 5, 1930 in Johnstown, Neb., to William G. and Hazel Francis Spraggins Bowman.
He married Barbara J. Bossing Aug. 12, 1953 in Springfield, Mo. She survives.
He was a metal bond repairman at Boeing Military Aircraft Co. in Wichita.
He was a member of the First Nazarene Church. He served in the military during the Korean War.
Survivors include a son, Dale; a daughter, Connie Hummel; mother, Hazel Bowman;
brothers, Ronald and Alan, all of Augusta, and Myron of Winfield; sisters, Phyllis Kidd of Greensburg, Ky., Melba Gamble of Seattle, Wash., Delores Peterman of Ellsworth, and a grandson, Robbie Bohon.
A brother preceded him in death.
Former Augustan dies in Arkansas
Dorothea Helen Gipson, 65, Fort Smith, Ark., formerly of Augusta, died Friday.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Frank Miller of the First Nazarene Church will officiate.
She was born Feb. 22, 1919 in Augusta to Albert and Pairlee Fowler Burris.
She married Dee Gipson. He survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Judy Johnson of Augusta, Jean Libel of Colwich, Helen Huff of Fort Smith, Ark., and Betty Vinson of Madill, Okla.; a brother, Goldie Burris of Cheney; sisters, Mabel Elder of Augusta, Zetta Webster of Whiting, Myrtle Brenner of Howard, Nancy Shrun of Huntsville, Ark., and Audrey Bare of Salem, Ore.; 17 grandchildren, and 15-great-grandchildren.
