Sister died Friday at 71
Inez O. Varner, 71, El Dorado, sister of Laura Andrews of Leon, died Friday.
Her service was at 2:30 p.m. today at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
Other survivors include her husband, Victor; daughters, Vickey Lynn Miller, Caroline Sue Mitchell, both of El Dorado; brothers, Junior M. Barnes of Tulsa, William E. Barnes of Westminister, Calif.; another sister, Pauline Goodwin of El Dorado and six grandchildren.

Ex-Douglass woman dies
Mary Elizabeth Love, 91, Wichita, formerly of rural Douglass, died Friday.
Her funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. today at the First Christian Church in Wichita.
A memorial has been established with Mrs. Love’s adult education class at the First Christian Church and with the Wichita Art Association.
She was born Dec. 16, 1893 on a farm in rural Douglass. She was the only daughter of John Bush, a pioneer in cattle and oil in Kansas. She attended a Douglass elementary school and graduated from high school there. She graduated from Phillips University in Enid, Okla., in 1917.
She married Walter Lowry Love, founder of Love Box Co., on July 29, 1917. He preceded her in death in 1976.
She helped establish the Central Christian Church in Wichita which became the First Christian Church. She was an active member of the church and the Wichita Art Association.
Survivors include a son, Robert Love; daughters, Mary Elizabeth Hinshaw of Denver, Colo, and Nancy Cox of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mother dies in Texas
Lavita Duncan, 68, Wichita Falls, Texas, mother of Tommy Duncan of Augusta, died Friday.
Her funeral service was at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hampton-Vaughan Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Norsworthy officiated and burial was in Crestview Memorial Park.
She was born Nov. 15, 1915 in Georges Creek, Texas.
She married C.T. Duncan June 2, 1935 in Wichita Falls. He survives.
She was a member of the Lamar Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She operated a children’s nursery in Wichita Falls.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert Horne of Waxahachie, Texas; another son, Ken of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Thelma Parker of Alvardo, Texas; a brother, James H. Bandy of Granbury, Texas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Former Douglass man dies at 66
M. Dale Olmstead, 66, Wichita, brother of Joan Bush of Douglass, died Monday at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mission Chapel Mausoleum Meditation Chapel. Rev. Leslie E. Andrews will officiate.
A memorial has been established with the Midian Shrine Plane of Mercy.
He was born Dec. 1, 1917 in Douglass to Harvey DeLoss and Julia L. Cramer Olmstead.
He married Helen Martin. She survives.
He was a supervisor at Boeing Military Aircraft Co. in Wichita.
He was a member of the Midian Shrine.

Valentine Hada dies at hospital
Valentine "Turp” Hada, 83, Winfield, a former resident of the Augusta area, died Monday, Nov. 12, at the William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield.
His graveside funeral service will be 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 14, at the Highland Cemetery in Winfield.
Mr. Hada was the father of Mrs. Elbert (Donna) Chappell of Augusta.
He was born March 18, 1901 near Alva, Okla., as a son of Valentine and Susie Mata Hada.
After receiving his education in Oklahoma schools, he farmed in the Alva area.
On Aug. 21, 1923, he and the former June Ross were united in marriage at Alva. Two years later, the couple moved to the Augusta area. He worked at the refinery in the 1930’s and for Santa Fe Railroad in the 1940’s and 1950’s.
Upon retirement, Hada returned to the Alva, Okla., area. He moved to a daughter’s home in Winfield in 1980.
The survivors include Mrs. Chappell of Augusta as well as Mrs. Warren (Virginia) Johnson of Chelsea, Okla., Mrs. Keith (Barbara) Flower and Wanda Hada, both of Winfield; a brother, John Hada of Nevada, Mo.; two sisters, Ida Hada of Alva, and Ellen Thurmond of Perkins, Okla.; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Hospitals Inc. The Miles Mortuary Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
