Billy Guy McPherson, 81
His journey here is over, he finished his race well. Billy Guy McPherson, 81, of Augusta, passed away Monday, June 8, 2015 at his home.
Visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday,
June 11; services at 11 a.m Friday, June 12,
2015, both at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Billy was born in Gouldbusk, Texas on Feb. 14, 1934, to the late Esther Mayrene (Gray) and John Boyd McPherson. Billy was owner/operator of McPherson Drilling. He loved his work, from oil and water wells to drilling vent holes for mines in Colorado and Missouri. Billy read his bible faithfully for two hours everyday, he enjoyed his family and spending time with his grandkids. In his spare time he liked his history books, especially on WWII. On Nov. 5, 1951 he married Lena (Lanier) McPherson in Carlsbad, NM. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by: son, Bill McPherson and wife Penny of Winfield; daughter, Genie Brazell and husband Russell of Augusta; son, Jim and wife Kaye McPherson of Winfield; brother, Ronald McPherson and wife Nancy; brother in law Slim Lanier and wife Naomi; 16 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Billy was also preceded by his great-granddaughter Lillian McPherson, and his brother Don McPherson.
He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Zora'Obeda' Boman, 89
Zora "Obeda" Boman, 89, of Augusta, moved to Heaven on Monday, June 8, 2015.
Visitation will be 1-8 p.m., with family present from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 11.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday,
June 12, 20115, at the Leon Cemetery in Leon.
Obeda was bom Aug. 17, 1925, to Jacob and Iva Irene (Woody) Shannon in Dewey, Okla. Obeda was a graduate from Dewey High School. She was united in marriage to Wayne Boman on September 14, 1957. Obeda was a homemaker. She enjoyed making ceramics and teaching others her craft. Her passion was collecting and making porcelain dolls. She participated in many doll shows and her creations won multiple awards. She was also quite the seamstress, making many of her own clothes as well as outfitting the dolls she made with gorgeous gowns and dresses. Even the tiniest doll received a special outfit. She loved to give, and many a person left her home with a special treasure in hand. Her family enjoyed her delicious fried fish (which she helped catch on many fishing and camping trips), yummy chocolate cake. Apple pie and fudge
were also favorites. Many memories were made as her family and friends gathered in her home. There were special evenings when friends would enjoy playing a spirited game of "wahoo." Betty Boop was her favorite character. She had a vast collection and a life-size "Betty” that she painted on the door of her shop.
Her survivors include: her sons, Charles "Lloyd" and wife Kathy Van Dever of Augusta, Floyd "Bub" and wife Teri Van Dever of Leon, and Walter and wife Kendra Van Dever of Bradenton, Fla.;step daughter, Joyce and husband Lyoren McCray of Vidor, Texas; 7 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 16 step great grandchildren.
Obeda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Johnny and Hobart; sisters, Alice and Ruth.
Memorials have been established with Homestead of Augusta and may be left in care of the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
