Augustan’s aunt dies in Oklahoma
Helen Allen King, 86, the aunt of Geneva Hurst of Augusta, died Saturday at Spanish Cove Retirement Center in Yukon, Okla.
Geneva Hurst and her husband, Jap, attended funeral services Monday at Spanish Cove.

Charles Davis dies at 84
Charles Davis, 84, Brazil, Ind., formerly of Augusta and uncle of Shirley Guy of Augusta, died Tuesday.
His funeral service will be Friday in Indiana.
He was born in Augusta Jan. 16, 1900.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan Cooper of Brazil; a sister, Gladys Graham of Joplin, Mo., and brothers, Bud Davis, Joplin, Evert Davis of Grove, Okla., Vern Davis of Kingman Ariz.

Ralph Snyder Sr. died in Iowa
Ralph Snyder Sr., 86, Estherville, Iowa, father of Ralph Snyder Jr., of Augusta, died Jan. 2.
His funeral service was Saturday at the Union Baptist Church in Estherville. Rev. Danville Swanson officiated and burial was in the Eastside Cemetery in Estherville.
He was born Dec. 20, 1898 in Sioux City, Iowa, to William T. and Bertha Olson Snyder.
He married Gertrude Wendt June 5, 1922 in Rockford, Ill. She survives.
For 43 years of his life, he was a communications worker for the Rock Island Railroad.
He was a Mason and was a member of the Electrical Workers Union.
Other survivors include another son, Van R. Snyder of Atlantic, Iowa, Mrs. Verle Dorothy Pierce of Estherville; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin sister, a brother, a son, a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Thelma Binder died Thursday
Thelma V. Binder, 63, Wichita, sister-in-law of Ruby Graver and Virginia Cody, both of Augusta, died Thursday at St. Francis Regional medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Cochran Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. Jon Grissom of the Augusta Christian Church will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery here.
She was born April 14, 1921 in Cushing, Okla., to Fred and Ethel Nickolls.
She married George R. “Ray” Binder at the Augusta Christian Church. He preceded her in death Jan 7, 1984.
During World War II she worked in purchasing at Boeing Aircraft Co. Later she was a legal secretary at the Wichita Courthouse.
She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Other survivors include a brother, Lloyd V. Nuckolls of Wichita; four nephews and a niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul Nuckolls.

Mother dies in El Dorado
Rosemary Goss Cushman, 55, El Dorado, mother of Rebecca and Sally Gaskill, both of Augusta, died Thursday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kirby Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Randy Gauger will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
She was born Nov. 6, 1929 in Wessleco, Texas, to Jessie and Callie Culver Cushman.
She married Royce E. Cushman April 16, 1949 in Ada, Okla. He survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in El Dorado.
Other survivors include a son, Roy E. of El Dorado; brothers, Roy Goss of Anderson Island, Wash., Cletus of San Diego, Calif., and Hubert of Carlsbad, N.M.; sisters, Sylvia Blouin of Mission, Texas, Florence Dalton of Houston, Texas, Alice Mack of Enid, Okla., and Jane Seckel of Tecumseh, Okla.; six grandchildren.

Mother dies in Wichita
Ethel E. Patterson, 86, Wichita, mother of Wendall Patterson of Douglass, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the United Methodist Church at Melvern, Kan. Burial will be in the Melvern cemetery.
She was born June 19, 1898 in Waverly to Edgar and Minnie Stenson Fanning.
She married Reese Patterson. He preceded her in death in 1967.
She worked at Champion Catering Service before her retirement.
Other survivors include a brother, Cleo Fanning of Wichita; a sister, Bernita Sloop of Topeka; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Culbertson-Smith Mortuary in Wichita is in charge of arrangements.
