Russell Rierson dies at hospital
Russell Dean Rierson, 69, of rural Douglass died Friday, Jan. 11, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral service will be 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 15, at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel in Augusta. Rev. Jack Tomman, pastor of the Cumberland Church, will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Memorials to the Cumberland Church of rural Augusta have been suggested.
Rierson was born Aug. 12, 1915 in rural Augusta to Cassius “Cash" Byron and Katherine Hughes Rierson.
This Butler County farmer married Hazel Evelyn Brown on June 23, 1940 in Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Ronald Rierson of Douglass; a brother, Fred Rierson of Leon; a sister, Virginia Black of Douglass, and three grandchildren — Heather, John, and Bethany Rierson, all of Douglass.

Father dies in El Dorado
Bee “Tex” Alexander, 78, El Dorado, father of Shirly Brown of Augusta, died Friday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His funeral service was at 2 p.m. today at the Carlson Funeral Home. Rev. Mel Brown officiated and burial was at Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born March 21, 1906 in Indian Territory in Oklahomas to James and Eliza Powers Alexander.
He married Lillian Akins Jan.
15, 1931 in Durant, Okla. She survives.
Alexander was a retired appliance repairman for Skelgas and Go Marine.
He was a Baptist.
Other survivors include sons, William of Ashdown, Ark., and Roy of El Dorado; daughters, Dorothy Harris of Fort Worth, Texas and Mary Jackson of El Dorado; sisters, Mabel Smith and Mary Nation, both of Cado, Okla.; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

Barbara J . Fulk dies at Emporia
Barbara Jean Fulk, 45, sister-in-law of Augustans Gene Fulk and Ruth Elliott, died Sunday, Jan. 13, at the Newman Hospital in Emporia.
Her funeral service will be 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, Jan. 17, in the Wilson Funeral Home at Emporia.
Memorials to the Kansas Heart Association have been suggested.
Mrs. Fulk was born Aug. 28, 1939 at Hamilton as a daughter of George B. and Sarah Ann Graves Muse. She was a graduate of Madison High School.
She and the late Russell Fulk were married May 20, 1961 at Caney. Both liked to camp and fish together.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Madison.
In addition to the brother-in-law and sister-in-law here, Mrs. Fulk leaves four sisters, Nina Wilson of Madison, Marie Wilson of Lawrence, Marjorie Rollins of Morrero, La., and Shirley Rule of Topeka; two brothers, Kenneth Muse of Potwin and Ronnie Muse of Springfield, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother (Jack).

William P. Mayne dies in Wichita
William P. Mayne, 64, of Wichita, died Friday. He was a cook's assistant at the Garvey Restaurant.
His funeral was Monday afternoon at the Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita.
Mayne married Ruth I. Berner of Augusta on April 22, 1947 at the First Baptist Church here.
She survives and now resides in Wichita. Also surviving are a daughter, Janis T. Kiesfer, Wichita, his mother, Mildred E. Woodward, Wichita and three grandchildren.

Olive Nicholson dies in Oxford
Olive M. Nicholson, 89, Oxford, mother of Carol D. Nicholson of Augusta, died Sunday at a nursing home there.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Oxford United Methodist Church. Rev. Chuck Mattix will officiate and burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Kidney Foundation of Kansas.
She was born Nov. 5, 1895 in Elk City, to Isaac and Louisa Reichel James
She married Chauncey Nicholson Dec. 24, 1919 in Elk City. He died Nov. 13, 1942.
She had lived in Oxford since 1939.
Other survivors include son, Chauncey L. of Bartlesville, Okla; Kenneth of Bosman, Mont, daughters, Barbara E. Wharton of Dallas, Texas; Veloris Chamberlain of Oxford, and Virginia Donley of Abilene; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Leo G. Brown dies at 73
Leo G. Brown, 73, Furley, father of Valda Trebbe of Augusta, died Monday at St. Francis Reginal Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Palmyra Baptist Church in Benton. Rev. Dale Sneeringer and Durward Boggs will officiate and burial will be at the Green Valley Cemetery near Furley.
Memorials have been established with the Kidney Foundation and the Maude Carpenter Childrens Home.
He was born Nov. 29, 1911 in Cassville, Mo., to Riley and Edith McGlasson Brown.
He was a retired Beech Aircraft worker.
Other survivors include sons, Winston of Bartlesville, Okla., Stanley of Hutchinson, Kenneth of Pratt; daughters, Virginia Young of Furley, Wilma Schwemmer of Arlington, Donna Nettier of Moundridge; sisters, Ruby Turner of Springfield, Mo., Bessie McOllum of Borger, Texas; 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
